I also replaced the JJ's in my Sphinx with Mullards, to tame some top-end. I was pleased as well.

I have had my Sphinx for about two weeks now and love it. Had not yet thought about changing the tubes but I may do it now.

I'm a couple months in on mine and it's really starting to shine so I haven't thought about rolling yet. How easy is the swap? I assume just plug and play but want to verify.

Thanks for this. I'm not ready to pull the JJs in my RP5, but I ordered a couple pairs for when the time comes. Certainly worth $50 to give them a try at some point.

Just remove the 10 cover screws, remove the cover, pull out the old tubes, and plug in the new, making sure the pins line up. It is very easy.

I'm going to have to give this a shot soon. Enjoying my Sphinx v2 a lot, but for so few bucks, why not?

When I had my Rogue Medusa, the Mazda Ciftes from Upscale Audio were fabulous. They were expensive but worth it.

Went ahead and ordered a pair this morning. Thank you OP for the heads up.
If it sounds any better than it is now with the JJ's, I will be in nirvana and my Ascend Towers have not arrived yet. Still want to see what it sounds like with them before I change any tubes.

The tubes arrived Tuesday, installed today. Haven't had much chance to listen, but left the Sphinx powered up for a few hours while I went about my other duties. One thing I noticed... no more hiss! Over the past months the Sphinx with the stock JJ's had developed a hiss through the speakers. Dead quiet with these new tubes.
    So far, so great!.

I also ordered a couple sets Friday and got them on Tuesday. Very fast delivery! Leaving town for a few days. Will give them a shot when I get back

Thanks for the info. Just ordered a pair for my older Sphinx to try out. It's pretty cheap to try these for the price.

    What is your favorite tube?
How did you like them? I was impressed. They even sound better, after I left the on (accidentally) all night.

The Mazda Ciftes were absolutely great and worth every penny to me.

I am curious to hear from someone that ordered the RCA clear top referenced in my original post. I absolutely love them. They bring the Sphinx to life; puts you right in the studio with the artist, or in the 3rd row of a live album. Please give a report after you have listened to them for a while.

    Have a good weekend.

These seem like quite a deal at $19 bucks a pair. I've seen these going for 2x as much.

They are the real deal too. I like them so much, I ordered 4 pair.

Disappointed because the tubes I received are microphonic. With the volume turn all the way down I can lightly tap on the front panel and clearly hear the tap through the speaker. Sometimes it's worse than other times.
Shame, cause I was liking them until this!
I have reached out to the seller.

That is strange. I have two pair, and neither one have that problem. I hope the two more that I ordered are not microphonic. Just a shot in the dark, do you have all of your components plugged into the same power strip? If not, you could be getting a ground loop.

All components, turntable, Sphinx, sub-woofer plugged into same power strip. Nothing has changed except for the tubes.
Happy to hear yours is OK, gives me hope for possible replacements being OK.

Let me know if he takes care of you. If not; I'll send you a pair of mine.
