If by better you mean nearly unwatchable then yes. I keep wanting to like it and I liked the premise but it keeps getting worse and worse. Like a Lifetime Network drama with some zombies.

First season had some really cool elements. Seeing the start of the virus was interesting and had a cool air of mystery about it. Second season bad, bad, bad. Maybe it'll rebound.

sure, if you like zombies, strong family politics, head trips, aggravating incidents, bad decisions, you name it! ...but hey that's zombie life on TV...

I think if they had slowed the series way down and maybe focused on a few different groups at the beginning, the way The Stand did, it would've remained much more interesting. Could've gone on for years that way with groups finally meeting, Fighting, allying etc. Each season could be a month or even a week in time. Could show the slow breakdown of society and keep an air of mystery about who will turn and who won't. I really feel they screwed up a great opportunity.

I totally agree that the writer's screwed up a great opportunity for this show. I can think of a hell of a lot better story lines regarding these characters. The problem is the actors do not gel. There's no synergy between them. It's like they get a script, memorize it, then try to act it out as best as they can. I personally believe that the actors themselves don't even believe in the show and do the best with what they get. The whole going to mexico adventure thing, then getting caught by pirates, then trying to rescue the hostages has all been done. Nothing new is being brought to the show that we haven't seen before in TWD. My wife said that she doesn't want to watch another TWD show. This series is simply not coming together as it should have. The writer's had good intentions but there's no delivery. And regardless of the location the characters are in, in this post apocalyptic world, it still boils down to survival, killing zombies, and trying to avoid the bad guys. The whole premise and setting for the show should really have taken place at least 5 years prior to the outbreak and really give the viewers an idea as to what this virus is and how it got out in the population. And it should not have been written about another family trying to survive, which we've already seen in TWD. So all in all, FTWD is rehashed again. I think this is why my wife and I are having such a hard time with the show. We've seen it all before. Just because it's in Mexico doesn't make it any more interesting or gripping.

I hope this season picks up the pace a bit more than the first episode. Also, the commercials every 5 minutes about drove me crazy - even with watching the show with the DVR.
