I don't get the hate for her songs on DF to be honest. I can see where people can't abide her Plastic Ono Band/Fly material but Double Fantasy was as commercial and accessible as she ever got. I can understand people hating "Don't Worry Kyoko" but not those who hate "Walking On Thin Ice"

It's probably not the forum to say this on, but some of her songs on DF are better than Lennon's!

Yoko could write and perform the greatest song ever, and she would still be hated in some quartets.

Walking On Thin Ice, is a great song.

Loved Jackson Browne's "Hold Out". It's not one of his more critically acclaimed albums, but song for song I think it's his best. David Lindley's slide work is brilliant.

Well she'd definitely be hated in some quartets, but also in some quarters!

Dave Lindley is a great sideman, and I like his solo albums too. El Rayo-X is a classic, but yes, Hold Out is a good album. Like Jackson even more as he played over the time curfew at Hammersmith Odeon when I saw him. Running On Empty is my favourite.

I think it's fair to say The Wall is slightly in the lead on this poll.:)

Kenny Rogers has the least number of votes, but at least every album has some. No surprise on here that the Stones, Lennon and Springsteen fared well.:)

I own almost every album on this list in one format or another, but there are only a few that I would want to listen to all the way through at this point. I've heard The Wall, Glass Houses, Against The Wind, etc. so many times that I'd be happy to never have to hear them again.

And nothing against Kenny but you'd have to tie me up to get me to listen that Greatest Hits album! A few classics but so much cheese... She Believes In Me, Lady, You Decorated My Life, Love the World Away...ugh!

I went with The Wall, Glass Houses, The River, Long Distance Voyager and Tattoo You. All are albums I listen to frequently. I was thoroughly amazed that Long Distance Voyager was number one in 1981! Always knew the Moodies were quite popular in the US, but that this particular album shot to number one really baffled me. I liked it at first listen, still do, it's probably the only album that the group did that wasn't from the 1967-72 period that was one hundred percent correctly structured, sounded good, had great singles as well as deep cuts; together with The Wall, probably my favorite of the 5 I went with. Wasn't so sure on Against the Wind. I owned the LP briefly but have not heard it since, though I like Seger and the title track, Fire Lake and Her Strut sound great and still hold up pretty well.

EDIT: Had totally forgotten about The Game being #1. Lobbed that in with my other 5 choices... One of my most listened to Queen albums! Embarrassing.

    Only saw this thread now.
I went for The Game, The Wall, Escape, Hi Infidelity, Paradise Theatre and 4.
Really 1981 was the year for AOR rock.

And surprising that Against The Wind could only manage 24 votes

    Tough crowd.

Pretty sad that it spent 6 weeks at the top and only picked up 24 votes.

Then again, the REO Speedwagon album was #1 for 15 weeks and that's only got 27 points..

My dad had that Greatest Hits album so I heard it a bunch back then. There are some songs I can enjoy like "The Gambler" but too many sickly sweet love songs for me to choose it for the poll.
