Every year I put together a collection of songs for friends that represents summer to me. I usually try to find bands/songs that open up the usual top 20 radio they hear everyday. Mainly it is a creative way to create a summertime type yearly "x-mas" card to keep in touch with everyone, as I mail the majority of these out.

With this in mind, what albums/songs do you listen that represent that summer experience for you?

I'm in full agreement on Van Halen and especially VH I & II. Sometimes I have to throw 5150 in there to hear Summer Nights.

Cevans, I'd have to say that your annual greeting is admirable, and I'm quite envious...it's a great idea that I'd like to try, but lean on the "no time" crutch...
Do you email files or snail mail CD-Rs?

Snail mail CD-R's...Then throw a tracklisting and a quick line or two on the inclusion of each song. Most of my friends aren't very big music enthusiasts outside of what's on the radio, so I try to provide some background for them. Regardless, I tend to get a ton of feedback and its a great convo started with friends that I don't see on a regular basis.

Smashing Pumpkins are my summer band. :)

They are the kings of that chill kind of nostalgic melancholy mood - like when you're lying in a field of grass on a sunny day just daydreaming and the chill part of "Hummer" comes on or something.... You know what I mean. :)
