The Longest Day -what is going on in this scene?

    This is one of my all time favorite films. I have always noticed this for years and surprised nobody has pointed this out. Probably an inside joke. At the very start of this (01-02 sec mark) clip you see a soldier lying in bed in background. What is he doing? :nauga:

    TLD is one of my all time favorites. It would be quite expensive to assemble a similar cast of today's stars for such a pic. I believe the budget was big for the day at $10 million. At least they saved a little bit of money by not using color film :)

    Everyone else had been re-based to avoid Allied bombing. The two you see were the only two left, sleeping man and "Pips", my favorite character. They re-appear later over the beach, all two planes. The German actors are the best part of the movie, them and the little guy who brings a bottle of champagne to the beach during the invasion. "John has a long mustache."
