It gets very hot here in AZ and it's currently 117*. My NAD M3 integrated acted like a radiator and I couldn't deal with all the heat it generated and my a/c system didn't like it too much either.

I bought a used Pharaoh a few days ago and after listening to vinyl and CDs the past several days I have to say it sounds very, very good as the reviewers promised, and it generates almost no heat. I don't have 'Fremer' ears but it does everything well, especially grabbing hold of the 10" woofers and make behave their best.

On well recorded music it is almost holographic.

I also rearranged my speakers and eliminated the nasty bass nodes I was getting and the 2.5db imbalance between the speakers due to room placement.

What do you think of the phono stage in the Pharaoh?

If you haven't already, roll in some good ole' NOS tubes and your ears will be rewarded.

I heard the Pharaoh several times and it sounded good but too much bass emphasis. Possibly bad system synergy.
Should pair really well with brighter speakers.
Let us know how it continues to sound for you.

IIRC, the Pharoah received an excellent review from TAS and the best of all, it is American made ...

Hope you have gotten used to the extremely hot but dry summer in AZ.

My 'winter' system (Conrad Johnson PV12 tube preamp/Aragon 4004 amp) is sitting idle until the fall. For the summer I'm using 70's low-watt receivers (Sony STR-6055/Marantz 2238B) that sound just as good. We're only in the 90's here in NJ right now. :)

Don't have a 'winter' system per se. My 'late night' system is my Tandberg 3003 amp/Harman Kardon HK825 preamp combo ...

I can sympathize, it doesn't get as hot here as in Arizona, but my a/c struggles to cope with July/August afternoons. I have the Sphinx, the Pharaoh's little brother, and it also runs nice and cool. And I have been very pleased with the sound.

I was in Houston with my wife over the Memorial Day weekend back in 2000. It was brutally hot with NY style humidity ...

Are these speakers Infinity Kappa 400 or 600? Happy with them?

Congrats on your purchase. Tell us more about your experiences with it since you set it up. As @loudwizard asked, did you try the phono stage? How did you like it?

I'm really curious - and interested - in that piece, but they can't be found on a regular basis. C'mon, tell us more!

That would be Houston-style. Which makes New Youk style child's play.
