We welcome random steering here. Most of have likely gone through life like this anyway. ;)

Sandwiches require two distinct pieces of leavened bread. No joined at the hip crap!

so if I get a steak and cheese on a wedge, that's not a sandwich?

what about a hard roll, depending on what the sandwich is, that may be joined too.

If you want an awesome blast of delight in your mouth, don't make a sandwich. Rather, make a "croissandwich":

Philistines! What is this wedge of which you speak? Hard rolls? We barely made it out of Egypt with soft rolls. All the rolls were hard. And by "we" I mean "they."

A sandwich is stuff between two separate slabs of yeast-influenced flower.

Now we are getting close to WTF-dom. ;)

Rotterdam may be a longer Dark Star, but Cleveland is a far better Dark Star. By the Fall of 1973 our favorite band was exploring musical trajectories that were unimaginable in 1972. Plus, the 6 December 1973 Dark Star is played inside-out, perhaps in commemoration of Altamont.

Anyway, don't take my word for it, read what the experts have to say: Grateful Dead Guide: Dark Star 12/6/73 (Guest Post) »

Bro, we made it out of Egypt with flatbread, Sinai Tortillas, until we took a wrong turn and missed out on the oil. Maybe by "we" I don't mean "you," but you get my drift. Or is it just a sand dune?

Unusual Discussions about what Constitutes a Sandwich in the Desert. Layers; perhaps even dichotomy.

Do you want 3 layers or 5?

Relisten links are wonky. It took me to 1970 with no specificity. Help? Or was '70 your point?

a wedge is what's known as a grinder in less sophisticated parts of the world than SW CT and parts of Westchester County and the Bronx.

A hard roll you can buy at Cassone's bakery in Port Chester NY (right up the street from the Capitol,) but evidently nowhere in northern CT. We can get 'bulkie rolls' which appear to be the genuine article but are actually a cruel joke perpetrated by Rhode Island on the rest of the world.

3/21/70, Capitol Theater. "Viola Lee Blues>The Seven>Cumberland Blues"

One of the grooviest little jams this side of the Atlantic.

Pick the source: Taper: Ken & Judy Lee

You might notice that about 40 seconds into the Viola Lee, the source improves to a near-soundboard quality, stereo mic feed.

I'll have you know that I lived in the New London/Stonignton/Pawcatuck/North Stonington part of CT for 8 years; '86-'93. We considered ourselves rather sophisticated; for right or wrong.:nyah:

    But, but pita bread...

Edit: Definiton of sandwich from Merriam Webster, unedited by me--

    Full Definition of sandwich
1 a : two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between
b : one slice of bread covered with food

2 : something resembling a sandwich; especially : composite structural material
consisting of layers often of high-strength facings bonded to a low strength central core

    3 : not fade away>GDTRFB>not fade away (see, e.g. 5/16/1972)

So I guess you're right, two slices of leavened bread. But I'll call a pita pocket a sandwich, anyway.

The debut of Row Jimmy is just ferocious. Jerry sings with so much intensity and bravado. What a confident debut. An All-Time Great version.

OK - not in this month's wife approved budget (since I have 3 sets on the way - DP22, DP18 replacement & Dave's 19 when it ships to everyone - but the sequence that made me crazy for more Europe 72 shows was the Dark Star>Drums>The Other One from Europe 72 volume 2 (5/7/72). I've listened to this before a number of times but yesterday it destroyed me so bad I had to listen to the 30 minute The Other One again this morning.

Here is the plan as long as these sets do not disappear by mid/late August:

    5/11/72
    5/4/72
    4/16/72

Left off 4/14/72 & 5/18/72 but some choices need to be made.

Also I will order the Winterland 73 with or without the wife approved budget:)

Road trip starting tomorrow, got some Red Rocks from 1982 (Jim Wise front row center auds, transferred and mastered by CM); 31 July 1982 from the porch crusher; and early August '74 for the return trip.

I've been here at this site since May 20th or 65 days. If I stay here for a bit longer and come to know you all like I've come to know other music people I've met/known via the Internet over the last 20 years, you all might understand the serious/not so serious take on the "wife approved budget"

I will reveal this. At one point I was unable to keep things like The Complete Riverside Recordings of Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis Live at The Plugged Nickel box, Complete Gil Evans/Miles Davis box, etc. etc. etc. etc.

I've in good shape to buy all I want when I want but I tell you in 25 years of marriage, my life has not been a straight line by any means. Was times without transportation, let alone music.
