Ridiculous/ Over-the-Top Hair Metal Music Videos

Hey everyone, I just came across this old classic and found myself quickly becoming nostalgic for the time of monster guitar solos and even bigger hair.



Everything about it is crazy, from Jim Gillette's ear-piercing caterwauling to Michael Angelo Batio's supremely out of place but still awesome 4-neck guitar soloing.

Please, post more videos like this. This is the thread for pyrotechnics, synchronized headbanging, Aqua Net, mascara, gang vocals and shredding, shredding, shredding.

I think this would qualify, not the best quality but it's the best I can find.

Awesome pick. Whatever you think about the singing there's no question VV can make that guitar wail like few others in the genre.

 

Is there such a thing as a "sensible/reasonably sedate" hair metal video? That would seem to be the much more difficult find.

 

Those would be rare indeed.

 

An underplayed gem of the genre.

 

I'd say this is reasonably sedate for a hair metal video:

 

I might not have been too clear in my first post, but I'm really looking for videos/music that are extreme even by hair metal standards-- things that revel in the excessive tropes of the genre. The Vinnie Vincent Invasion video posted above is a great example, with the giant (even by hair metal standards) poodle hair and VV's million-miles-a-hour guitar solo that sounds like it belongs to an entirely different song. I'm just looking for stuff to chuckle at, basically.

This might be a good example, though it kind of bridges the gap between hair metal and NWOBHM...

 

I always dug this one. Hilariously tongue-in cheek and over the top...

 

Yeah man, I think that video (and Nitro in general) is the textbook example of hair band excess taken to its extreme limits. Great stuff for sure.

 

Yes! This is brilliant. They're definitely taking the piss here, but it's so on point I can't help but laugh along with them. Fantastic song, too.

That video really has it all.....every Metal cliche in the book.
Pudgy, Ozzy-like, snarling, finger-pointing lead singer....check.
Double bass drums with a fog machine....check.
Rob Halford-like squeals......check.
The word "Hell" repeated 40 times in the course of the song.....check.
Spinal Tap-ish glowing Devil's head......check.
Headbands....check.
Eddie Van Halen-ish two handed tapping solo......check.
A gong they never actually play...check.
The list could go on and on!
Yet, I still kind of like it.

 

Even Beavis and Butthead had a go at that one.
