What a great song! Somehow I missed this band in 1998 when this was released. Heard it by chance on the radio played loud.

I like the hypnotic vibe from the repetition of the chorus and when the Beach Boys-like guitar and rhythm section come in it's just perfect, heavy too.

Norman Cook was the main figure I understand, need to catch up on him.

This is the only song I'd heard before but I didn't know who it was. Great soul/house/pop fusion. Note the two Townshend Morse Code quotes at the end.

Also, in a previous life, he was the bassist for The Housemartins.

The surf vibe again, love it. Very good production too.

Funny, I didn't know the name but the moment I heard it I said, "James Bond". An obvious influence. Once again the production in this era really gets me, so good.

My Norman Cook of choice is Beats International. Let Them Eat Bingo released in 1990 is a masterpiece that begat the Fatboy that was to come

Interesting, great vocals. I can hear influences that later were evident, Drifters, Beach Boys especially - influences ostensibly not that compatible..

Hot buttered soul edgy style, with 60s guitar influences (Spaghetti Western-type). Excellent.

That song was obviously acapella, but was a #1 hit for them. More typically they were an alt-pop band.

"Grew up" to Fatboy Slim and Chemical Brothers, wow! I would kill to have this stuff on vinyl now. I remember buying the You've Come a Long Way CD and listening to it in the minivan with my parents, I must have been in junior high or just starting high school then. Then on comes Fatboy Slim is F*cking in Heaven; I had no idea what I was in for. Just wanted to listen to Praise You, good times.

My top pick of his albums:
