Well, it seems like Dio was obsessed with rainbows anyway. He sings about them a lot. I was just curious.

Maybe the Biblical significance was the reason.

Ronnie James Dio in Swahili means leprechaun money place. Leprechauns, rainbows. Boom.*

He felt like a "rainbow in the dark" when he left Rainbow. That is the reason for that song, anyway.

Someday I will go through every song he sang to figure out how many had the word rainbow in them. Maybe it just rhymes with a lot of things?:)

I've been meaning to do the same with David Lee Roth and count how many times he's used "1-800" in a song.

He clearly was intrigued with the subject matter as a creative outlet. He and Blackmore did some very cool stuff with it during the 1970's.

He's f-ing Dio for cryin' out loud. He could write 50 songs about pencils and they would still be awesome.

I saw an interview with him and more or less he just thought that fantasy stuff was cool. I like the music so i tolerate it. But his lyrics are awful IMO. But at least he sung them well with passion.
