Would it be too much to hope that maybe we could coax the Floyd camp into somehow making some of these additional outtakes/alternates that Chris M mentioned available, like maybe as a download for people who buy the big box? Unrealistic, perhaps, but hey, a guy's gotta dream.

    Welll, yeah. :( :)

I'm probably also dreaming to acquire the bits I want in, well, bits? The more I think "$700", the more I go "this is where I get off ..."

Yeah, it really should have been included, but fortunately it's "out there" in decent quality.

Not as big of a bummer that no surround Meddle or OBC is included.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet (difficult to keep up) but the 8 minutes 57 seconds "See Emily Play" is almost certainly a (handy) typo so buyer beware...the total time for the disc is 50 minutes and 32 seconds approx and if that timing of Emily is correct then the timing for the whole disc is off by several minutes. It would be nice if it were true, but I don't think it is.

Anyway, I for one am passing on this, I am only really interested in the Syd era work and there's not enough new (or even that we already know of) here to tempt me.

Okay okay, I get it, sorry ... I miss a lot trying to read on my tiny phone screen ...

$550? ... Headed in the right direction ... So I hope they manufacture way too many, so I can get one at Costco or something for $300 or less. Hey, I'm a minimum-wage worker! (Depending upon what's included, I may end up just buying some individual pieces in 2017, presuming that time frame applies.)

Not to alter the lovefeast, but in a way, I'm not sure I like the idea of all this material flooding into the marketplace; one of the things that has always attracted me to the early Floyd is the sort of mystery or enigma about it all. I fear that having all this video in particular, shining a spotlight into shadowy nooks and crannies of the band's existence, will somehow alter my feelings about them that I've nursed since 1967, when I bought Piper on its day of release.

(Yes, I can practically hear some of you shouting "well don't buy the bloody things, then!!" Your suggestion is duly noted, and politely declined. :D)

I can't believe that there is so much Syd era stuff missing.

    Interstellar Overdrive (1966 Demo)
    Arnold Layne (Stereo Remix)
Candy & A Currant Bun (Stereo Remix)
    Untitled (Sunshine)
    Vegetable Man (alternate takes)
    Reaction In G (Studio version)
Bike (RM1, alternate vocals/lyrics, no harmonium)
    Lucifer Sam (RM1, early version)
    Chapter 24 (alt take 5)
    Pow R Toc H (RM1, alt mix)
    The Gnome (alt mix)
Take Up Thy Stethescope and Walk (alt mix)
Interstellar Overdrive (rough mix, take 2 unedited)
    Paintbox (early version)
Remember a Day (alternate mono mix)
    Saucerful Of Secrets (mono LP)

This is just the stuff that we know exists!

You've only got to look a few posts up or down to see that this subject has been done to death (and back) already.

I love the look of the deluxe boxes, but there's no way I can afford it, so I'll have to lust after it from afar.

The 2 CD, just doesn't seem that interesting, as I have most of it already.

Looks like I won't be spending any money on new Floyd, after all.

But I am going to the UFO exhibition in a couple of months with someone who helped run the place...

...so that's going to be an interesting day out!

Not the same tracks as the original double lp, and it hasn't got the word Picnic in the title. Embryo is on it though, and the live Eugene from Ummagumma.

I'm struggling to get my head around all this.... A massive treasure trove of stuff that I never thought would see the light of day (officially at least). But I really can't justify £400. I don't think...

I guess the only thing I'll really miss here is the vinyl and the memorabilia. So if anyone wants to do a deal, I'm in.

A vinyl version of the 'best of' double cd would have been nice...

It's fantastic though. No doubt at all about that!

That double CD of the early years is ripe for a 4 LP set just like The vinyl Best of Echoes set, I wonder if another retrospective is in the pipeline or maybe a reissue of the Echoes set along with a repressing of the vinyl?

I certainly can't afford to lay out for the box set but might cherry pick from the individual releases next year. I'm trying to work out if Pompeii the film is part of this or not, although the time to reissue that would be when DG puts out his live Blu ray/DVD Pompeii set.
