It looks like the last proper album she released was in 2012. I don't really follow her so I don't know how well it did or what she's been up to since.

I don't know. I can still party like it's 1999! Minus the need to make sure I have plenty of bottled water and non-perishables!

Can't say I follow her either, other than what I hear occasionally through TV or radio. But whenever I hear that line, it breaks my imagination and takes me back to mid 2000's pop culture.

The Partridge Family's 'Echo Valley 2-6809' stands out like that too. Granted it's a bit before my time but I get it.
Imagine the kiddies today with a totally confused look as they hear a song like that.

Asia - Heat of the Moment. "And now you find yourself in '82." Great song, though.

Dire Straits - Money For Nothing.

Aside from it mentioning playing guitar on MTV, and "We gotta move these colour TV's" (as if TV's would be anything else these days), there's lyrics like "See the little ****** with the earring and the makeup, Yeah buddy that's his own hair, That little ****** got his own jet airplane, That little ****** he's a millionaire", which probably wouldn't go down to well now.

Edit: lol, that word's censored here.

Pretty much until the end of his life, Prince kept updating the lyrics to "Kiss" after Dynasty had left their airwaves. I remember at one point, he was singing "You don't have to watch Sex And The City to have an attitude", in 2007 when I saw him, he namedropped Desperate Housewives. When I saw him last year, he said Real Housewives.

Dynasty??? I remember thinking that line was dated when it was released in 1986.

The Dire Straits song is probably more dated for being the last major instance of a homophobic slur on Top 40 radio.
Hip-hop carried on the tradition in the 90s (mainly Dr. Dre and then Eminem) but the F-word was censored by that point.
