Just got a chance to watch the videos above here at home. Cool that he remembers all this stuff and took the time to answer.

I just dug this album out, so sought out this thread.

What a great album: I Can Feel The Fire, is such a joyous song.

Excellent stuff. I had the original vinyl, but now have the Rhino Encore edition.

Although not a member of the Stones when it came out in 74. Good album. The opening track is gold.

I just picked up a two disc set from Friday Music label.
I 've Got My Own Album To Do and Now Look.
I can't comment on the SQ because I have only listened in the car.
    Man I love that album.
Now Look is just a bonus disc to me.

I love this album and also the Kilburn performance, warts and all. I especially like "Act Together"(live version) with Keith on the electric piano, awesome stuff! As far as the studio record goes, "I Can Feel the Fire", "Far East Man", "Take a Look at the Guy", "Cancel Everything" as well as "Sure the One You Need" are all kick-*** tunes. Definitely Ronnie's best solo album, although, "Slide on This" and "Gimme Some Neck" are fairly good efforts as well. Even, the followup, "Now Look" has a few gems, especially, "Breathe on Me".

    So true.

Funny how much better this album is than IORR and Smiler.

I'm almost ashamed to say I've never seen the Kilburn footage, I need to remedy that at some point:righton:

And no question, when it comes to Ron Wood's solo albums 1234 and Not For Beginners are definitely the weakest. IMO what makes My Own Album and Now Look his best is Ronnie's band- in spite of the numerous "guest appearances" that Wood/McLagan/Weeks/Newmark group smokes!
Ronnie's version is better than George Harrison's. Those Tom Scott horns on Harrison's version kill it for me, sorry George.

George is singing better on Ronnie's version than his own. And his vocal is just about as loud as Ronnie's.

Ron Wood's solo recordings were never on my radar until now. Starting with his first two which are the masterings I should look for on CD?

There's a rumour Bowie did some backing vocals on one of the tracks.

I've never been able to pick his voice out. He coulda got wiped along with Ron's guitar.
He's not in the official credits as far as I recall...but that could be due to contract/label restrictions.
