  2. Thanks for the heads-up. Any new Matt product is welcome.

I wonder how much involvement the family and Richard Moore (who has posted here quite often) have had in this release?

    Best Wishes,
    David

The tracks are newly remastered, probably by Richard (he has done most of this work over the last few years). Michele Monro has compiled the track list, and I know she was the person who persuaded Warners to get this released.

    In a word - Yes!

  5. In which case yet again a HUGE THANKYOU to you Richard (and also to Michele) for getting this disc and material out for us - it is truly appreciated.

I sincerely hope there are more to come.

    Best Wishes,
    David

  6. My disc came today - sooner than anticipated - and I wasn't disappointed.

Decent liner notes, great sound, great song selection, Matt in fine voice - what more could one want? Oh yes - it's a great price as well.

Kudos to Michele and Richard for getting this out for us.

They really do set a very high bar in terms of the standard for how an artist's legacy should be cherished and managed.

I hope that they understand just how much their work and efforts are appreciated.

Richard - please convey to Michele our gratitude for this.

    Best Wishes,
    David

The remastering on this set is really top notch. Thanks Richard.

This is a great compilation. One I'll be playing a lot. Matt Monro with George Martin really is the perfect combination.

No first time on CD tracks but some that have only been on CD once in 1991 and one that was only released on a supermarket comp. However several come from the original stereo session tapes for the first time and one first time stereo.

    Ordered :)

It's a shame that we can't have similar quality releases of the Capitol material. Judging by what you have already mastered of it, it would sound amazing! Night and day in comparison to the mono LP dubs we have now :(

They sure didn't hesitate to use 4 track machines to record Matt in the early '60's. It took two albums and 5 singles for the Beatles to deserve more than 2 track tape for their records.

Matt's first two LP's were direct stereo.

Yes, so would we. Universal/Capitol currently aren't interested.

I wish a series of vinyl release on Matt Monro's 60's catalog will be released with audiophile treatment for those who love the analog sound.

If the Capitol albums are a non-starter, is there any chance of you remastering any of Matt's other albums?

I know you did a great job on my favourite "Matt Monro Sings Hoagy Carmichael", but there are other albums either side of the Capitol era that would I'm sure be appreciated.

We shall see. This is the first time we've been able to get anything released since the Warner take over of EMI, it took a long while to do that, but we shall keep on trying!
