Good for her (and us)! I've always preferred "rock Cher" (Black Rose, anyone?) and hope it's in that vein...

What I'd love from Cher, although I know that I'll never get it, is another fun song like "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves". That song still rings so true to me all these years later and if anybody could pull off a "retro sounding song", it's Cher!

The other day I was digging through a slew of old CD-R's that my dear old music friend Mick made for me and among them was a needledrop of Cher's "Stars" album. How has this album not been reissued on CD is beyond me? I never realized that she covered the old Tim Moore song, "Love Enough", which was a thrill to hear!

I'd love another Cher album like Black Rose. I'd also love another Cher album like "Stars" or "It's A Man's World".

Blame Cher, she owns the masters to those 70's WB albums and has never reissued them for some reason. It's a shame as there are some real gems on those records.

Unfortunately, Cher teased her previous album for years before it came out. When it was finally rush released due to the first single being leaked, it was different than reported including an axed Lady Gaga duet.

BTW can we go back to black hair on the cover? Lol

Cher always teases albums for years. We probably had four albums promised before we finally got Closer To The Truth.

Yes, but she doesn't use it because she can't sing.

I agree - she uses it for pure effect, not correction...

Last I heard, it's supposed to be an album of songs that were big hits originally by men.

    Pretty deep concept, huh. :D

I'll be surprised if it comes out before fall 2017.

She mentioned a couple months ago on Twitter that she went out to dinner with Dave Stewart. Wishful thinking, but here's hoping he's on board as producer. She's on record as being a big Annie Lennox fan.

I grew up listening to the greats such as Cher, Tina Turner, Fleetwood Mac, Percy Sledge, etc. I think all these youngsters who are starting to sound the same should take notes from the greats. The greats had a way of defining themselves even when their music had similarities. Today you can't always tell one artist from the next because of the trends that people want to follow. Prime example is Maroon 5 whose last single sounded just like the rest, which is sad because they normally take a trend and make it their own. Which is why Cher is such a wonderful artist. Even when she follows a trend she makes it her own. Her song Believe took the current trend, made the trend her own, and blew everyone else out of the water. Which it would be great to hear Cher doing songs similar to her earliest work because she is the type of artist to capture that sound all the while making it sound new and exciting.

She's supposed to perform something new and different at the Billboard Music Awards .. perhaps this is something from an upcoming album.

Maybe she'll do her new song from the Syria documentary.

Great article! Thanks for posting. The usual expected errors and often told stories, but overall a great read.

See the first sentence of post #12.

Also, her comments about It's A Man's World are ridiculous. She has a habit of judging the quality of some of her albums by the level of commercial success they had.

Today I read that she might perform one additional song before or after "Believe" Gwen Steffani will give her the award.
