I've seen all but one, and while most are at least good, several of the films are by directors who actually did better films in the century.

    Shalom, y'all!

    Memento - awesome
    The Master - brilliant
Cache - haven't seen it (yet)
    Lost In Translation - definitely
    Grand Budapest Hotel - absolutely
Synecdoche, NY - my absolute favorite film of the 21s C :goodie:
Max Max: Fury Road - it was okay, I guess. liked it; didn't love it
White Ribbon - haven't seen it (yet)
Pan's Labyrinth - it was okay, I guess. liked it; didn't love it
Holy Motors - interesting, but not a great film. maybe I'll like it better on the second viewing
    4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days - prety good
Act Of Killing - haven't seen it (yet)
Children Of Men - pretty darn great
    Zodiac - loved it
    Inside Llewyn Davis - awesome
No Country For Old Men - spectacular
A Seperation - good but not great
Yi Yi - pretty darned amazing, is what it is
Tree Of Life - painfully overrated
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind - wonderful, intelligent and insightful
Boyhood - I'm just never gonna understand the appeal of Linklater
    Spirited Away - okay
There Will Be Blood - amazing
In The Mood For Love - the kind of film that makes me want to rewatch it immediately after it finishes.
    Mulholland Dr. - frickin' brilliant

An excellent list, methinks. Puzzled by the exclusion of 'Black Swan' or 'Nymphomaniac', 'Hard To Be A God' or maybe even 'Blue Is The Warmest Color' but, still. Excellent list.

The one that jumps out as "missing" for me is "Amour".

The 25 is part of a larger list of 100, where you'll find Amour and Blue is the Warmest Color.

    Shalom, y'all!

Maybe I should see it again. The first time it flew right over my head.

The Dark Knight at 33 invalidates the entire list.

Tree of Life and Mulholland Drive are two that I really loved (perhaps that's because both directors stem from a more classic era in film).

Just my luck - That's the only one of the twenty five I've yet to see.

I've a friend with great taste who also loves it, so I'll have to work it in soon.

    Shalom, y'all!

Oh the century is over already? ;)

I'll probably go to my grave wondering what people see in Children of Men. Technically brilliant, yes, but obvious and trite storytelling at its core. Not on my list.

Eternal Sunshin, In The Mood For Love and No Country For Old Men I can get behind, though. While I really like Mad Max, I'm not ready to call it one of the best of the century so far.

A bit too "arthouse" for me. Sometimes critics equate quirky to brilliant.

Lord of the Rings doesn't even make the top 100?

Can't believe how much acclaim Fury Road receives. I couldn't even sit through the entire thing.

I loved Mad Max & The Road Warrior but I was like you on this one. Seemed like a pretty by-the-numbers action movie.

It's great to see Zodiac on there. Critics often overlook it.

My top 25 would include Lord of the Rings and The Best of Youth.

Oh, and now it also would include the new Hell or High Water, which, as critic David Edelstein says, is better than any other movie from this year or last.

For me it's City of God, but that made the top 100.

Aren't we like 16% into the 21st Century?

I finally saw "Holy Rollers." Oh, God... I should have read up more on it before I watched it. I had no idea it was an art film. I really need to be prepped for those with a glass of red wine and Quaalude. By the time the limos started chatting I wanted a mallet for my tv screen. I love absurdist stuff as much as the next Beckett, but when it's just meaningless drivel...

Any list that puts "Mulholland Drive" at number one isn't going to convince me of anything other than the pretentiousness of it's voters. That film came out as Lynch began his descent into self-parody. Ten attempts later and I STILL haven't finished "Inland Empire." At least it didn't have a people in bunny suits.

On that list, I'll take "The Tree of Life" "Spirited Away" "There Will be Blood."
