@Daniel Thomas, is the family really "fighting" over the estate, though? All of the news I get over here is that everyone is playing nice, knowing that it's going to be equal shares, with the only thing up in the air is if Prince and Duane Nelson even share the same father. If not, the shares become greater for blood relatives.
The thought here, I assume, is that he did not necessarily mislabel them but knew it was mislabeled (that is, was aware the label did not accurately describe the contents). However, I think there is a likely chance he was not aware.
Yes they were labeled with a nonsense name, not another medication name, perhaps ostensibly to hide the true contents from prying eyes.
Hopefully, everything goes well, but I believe we're still working through who is family, and who is just a scam artist trying to weasel their way into the fortune. The family and courts haven't even touched thenfiner details of ownership rights, who controls the recordings, etc. The courts are currently working through who is "family," and therefore who gets an equal share of Prince's estate (according to MN law). Paisely Park management has been placed under control of a trust (Bremer Bank, right?). So that's good. Let's hope for the best when we get to the real contentious issues, such as the master recordings and the vault. Fortunately, MN law may help keep things civil by dividing the estate equally among family members (it's a very Minnesota idea, share and share alike, hah). I'm astonished that Prince couldn't be bothered to write a will. If he had done so, this would be a much simpler matter to resolve. Anyway, things are pretty smooth at the moment, but we still have a long way to go.
What was the deal with a tweet on the Prince account last night, along with an amended bio, that both vanished by morning? Was the account hacked?
For public tours yeah, and I'm sure the elevator will be bypassed in the tour...but for music that vault is the only way they'll make any real money now that he's gone. Interestingly enough, I asked my wife just last night if she saw the bathroom where Elvis died on her tour of Graceland when she was a kid. Nope. It's upstairs, with no access. It made me wonder where in PP the elevator is.
Yup, the entire upstairs floor of Graceland is off limits, they say because the house wouldn't be able to withstand too many people up there at one time. I prefer to believe that it's really in the interests of good taste and decorum. When I get to Paisley, I do NOT want to see the place where Prince passes away.
That's pretty funny, because on one hand it appeals to my off-kilter sense of humor, but on the other hand, I don't know if I would want to see the elevator either. But really, we humanoids are the great rubberneckers on the wheel of life. Everybody loves a fabulous disaster, as long as it doesn't happen to us. Newspapers outside of the Western Hemisphere are not averse to printing grusome photos of death and destruction. It makes me wonder how many of us would look at death photos of Prince of they leaked (and I'm sure they will).
Whenever I did see such photos, I always immediately regretted it. It felt like swallowing a little poison. Being the superstitious bushman that I am, I further believe that looking at such photos will cause bad luck: for example, shortly after I saw those pics of Michael Jackson, my cat was hit by a car and died.
One benign way to look at that is he was putting out a smokescreen to protect his friend's public image. Of course, there are darker explanations, but that's for law enforcement to look into.
It sounds like she's a person who knows the score. Every word of that rings true to me. The worst thing in the world for people with destructive behavior patterns is to keep up with a crowd that promotes those patterns. Doesn't matter if you're rich and famous, although the personal wealth is like a magnet for that kind of attention. It also makes it easier to build walls that are hard to pierce.
A very interesting article on the future of Prince's music, published yesterday. A little more insight here: Prince's Estate Weighs Deals With Publishers, PROs for Artist's Lucrative Catalog » In other news, tickets for Paisely Park tours went on sale today.

I am surprised how quickly they got Paisley Park to open as a Prince museum ala Graceland yet MJ's been dead seven years and they still haven't yet squared away what to do with Neverland.
Didn't he sell Neverland? Or does it still belong to his estate? (If the estate still owns it, that just goes to show how utterly dysfunctional Jackson's family is. Does Paris eventually get control of everything or what?)
It's probably because Prince already had monuments to himself in nearly every room of the house, the hallways, the stairs, not failing to mention the room(s) that was dedicated to his personal memorabilia...motorcycle included. A tour guide and a designated path to walk = $$$$.
Why dysfunctional? That's a pretty sweet chunk of land (unless it's overrun with abandoned, uncared for animals crapping all over the place). I'm no estate planner (perhaps obvious) but selling off real estate would be the last resort, no? I was kind of dismayed to see Bremer go right to putting 6 different properties of Prince's on the market. Nothing says "motivated seller"....
