I only remember seeing the first one ( maybe Second )long time ago. Remember the CB 80s Cannon films. There was a couple of good ones.

Don't know the target audience for tbe remake, but i coudn't believe the female turnout for Hateful 8 ..now that was a tad on the violent side.

I loved those movies back then. Invasion USA, Missing In Action, Murphy's Law, ect... There is a documentary called Electric Boogaloo which is about that company. They go into detail on the Death Wish films also. I highly recommend it.

I remember the vhs boxes those films came in. They were huge with Canon written in huge letters. They seemed larger then life.

The more I think about it the more I recommend seeing Death Wish 3. It is definitely a Canon film. The street gang still makes me laugh when I think about them. They remind me of something like what Troma would do.

No, he was in the 2nd one. Part 3 is where Paul goes to see an old friend in a seedy city. When he gets there his friend dies. Paul is arrested for the man's murder (falsely of course) and then taken out of jail by a cop to go back. The cop knows who Paul is and wants him to kill off the street gang.

When Paul goes back, he finds out that the building his friend lived in is being terrorized by the gang. The residents are mostly elderly and can't defend themselves so Paul befriends them and helps them stop the gang.

The gang looks like something out of an 80s sci fi film. It's really silly at times.

Bruce Willis must be the same age as Charles Bronson when he did
The Street Fighter( Hard Times). Now that was fists of fury.

Yeah and I thought it was terrible.

I saw something that there is another Mechanic film on the way - Mechanic Resurrection. Just looked it up.....it is tied to the storyline in the original film. Based on the NY Times review I'll pass on this one. The story sounds terrible.

On a related note... the uncut/unrated version of Death Wish 2 finally got its first official release back in July... but it's another one of those ridiculous BR-only editions (no DVD edition). Stupid, stupid, stupid. I would've bought a copy if there had been a DVD.

Well, this will probably be better than what Sylvester Stallone was planning. A few years ago, he was saying in interviews that he was going to do a remake of Death Wish, but his character would be going after white-collar criminals on Wall Street.

I really like the original, and the second one was a worthy sequel (with a great soundtrack by Jimmy Page). I'll probably check this out if & when it comes out.

  21. Nope! I wish someone would come up with some original movie ideas. All these dang remkes suck! I hate ones like the Robocop remake where you take an R rated movie and water it down to a PG-13!

  22. Remaking Death Wish is like remaking Dirty Harry or Magnum Force.

    You just don't do it.
