This is somewhat of a rarity in the film world, but can you think of any film series in which every entry was done by the same director? For the sake of discussion, let's consider a "series" to be any franchise that has at least 3 or more entries.

    Here are a few examples:

Lethal Weapon quadrilogy - Richard Donner
    Transformers quadrilogy - Michael Bay
Evil Dead trilogy - Sam Raimi
    Spiderman trilogy - Sam Raimi
Austin Powers trilogy - Jay Roach
Back to the Future trilogy - Robert Zemeckis
Indiana Jones quadrilogy - Steven Spielberg
    "Dead" series - George Romero
    "Askewniverse" series - Kevin Smith
    "Before" trilogy - Richard Linklater
Godfather trilogy - Frances Ford Coppola
"Three Mothers" trilogy - Dario Argento
Mad Max quadrilogy - George Miller
The Matrix trilogy - The Wachowskis
Men in Black trilogy - Barry Sonnenfeld
Blind Dead quadrilogy - Amando de Ossorio
Lord of the Rings trilogy - Peter Jackson
The Hobbit trilogy - Peter Jackson
Maniac Cop trilogy - William Lustig
Toxic Avenger quadrilogy - Lloyd Kaufman
    Phantasm quadrilogy - Don Coscarelli
Rush Hour trilogy - Brett Ratner
    Scream quadrilogy - Wes Craven
Dark Knight trilogy - Christopher Nolan
Dead or Alive trilogy - Takashi Miike
It's Alive trilogy - Larry Cohen
"Man With No Name" trilogy - Sergio Leone
    "Ocean's" trilogy - Steven Soderbergh
Basket Case trilogy - Frank Henenlotter
Mondo Cane series - Franco Prosperi
All Night Long trilogy - Katsuya Matsumura
    Samurai trilogy - Hiroshi Inagaki
    "Orphic" trilogy - Jean Cocteau
    Dracula trilogy - Patrick Lussier
"Vengeance" trilogy - Chan Wook Park
Human Condition trilogy - Masaki Kobayashi
Three Colors trilogy - Krzystof Kieslowski
    "Apu" trilogy - Satyajit Ray
Human Centipede trilogy - Tom Six
    "Qatsi" trilogy - Godfrey Reggio

That's unfortunate... I wonder why he's not directing this time?

He let his co-writer and vfx guy direct this one. He still co-wrote and produced it. Not sure exactly why. The filmed it all in secret though.

Not exactly a series, but Todd Solondz has the continues adventures of Dawn Wiener through 'Welcome To The Dollhouse', 'Palindromes' and 'Wiener-Dog.' If the ViewAskewVerse counts, this might.

Not sure if this really counts as they are only thematically linked and not officially a trilogy. Meh.

Michael Apted was a researcher on the first installment and started directing with the second. Paul Almond was the original director.
