    Awesome, thanks.

Met him once in NYC after a concert. I was at a nearby ATM and he was walking by, stopped and said something along the lines of "I'm glad you enjoyed the show" - I may have had a few drinks and was having a great time cheering the band on. He was super friendly.

Great article. Such an incredible musician. One of my all time great concert experiences was getting to see him play with Tony Williams in VSOP II.

    Interesting Read...Thanks.

Ron Carter also performed on the 1974 Grace Slick solo LP.

He played bass on the 15 minute Title Track: "Theme from the Movie Manhole"

ron carter is one of my favorite musicians of all time. I used to think if I could of been any jazz artist it would've been him (hes played on so many classic sessions), but then I thought id have to lug that huge bass around all the time. better to be a trumpet player. I still love his stuff especially the miles and cti years. and the man is a gent

    I love this anecdote:
"Stryker: Did Miles ever talk to you directly about what he liked about your playing?

Carter: Not to me. The set opener was always "Autumn Leaves." One time I played a note on the last measure of the song to go back to the top of the tune. It was a note he didn't expect to hear, and as we were playing behind George he walked by and said, "What was that note?" I told him it was a B natural, the third of G dominant 7 going back to C minor, and I can't talk while I'm playing so don't ask me any more questions."
