Do you wear gloves when cleaning records with enzymes, alcohol or other solutions?
If yes, what type of gloves do you use?

I'm super tough....so no gloves!!! :wiggle:
Seriously, that would seem cumbersome to me. But if'n I had allergies.....maybe a nitrite or some very thin type of glove?

Nah. My fingerprints have been erased by the KGB so no risk of accidentally leaving any behind on the record:laugh:

Yes. The AIVS #15 enzyme solution eats fingers for breakfast. I use disposable Nitrile Exam Gloves bought in bulk at Costco. Generally useful around the house, not just for cleaning records.

No, but I use hand sanitizer.

When I'm cleaning Thriller I only use one glove.

None. I make sure my hands are clean (don't have any beverage or food residue) and only touch the label and edge (lightly). I don't use any other cleaner than gentle enzymatic and a rise with water with a little bit of alcohol. My RCM removes all of the fluid.

    No. Never had any problems.

It may depend on how long you expose your fingers to it. I clean by hand, using the Osage brush. 5 minutes each side. After 10 records, my fingers felt like a cow's tongue and I've used the gloves ever since.

Interesting. I use it and the ultra pure water to rinse but I only have the patience for a couple of albums. Thanks I'll take your word.

It is not that surprising. It is a strong degreaser and as such is bound to affect the skin. Cleans records great, though.

Absolutely. You can never take too many precautions.

  16. No gloves, just clean hands and handling the records only by the edges or labels.

I don't but this makes me wonder if wearing some type of glove might eliminate the static charge? Seems like things get charged up when I remove an LP and walk it to my TT. I'm like an electric generator.

Last Record Preservative stings a bit.... but use Disc Doctor and VPI fluid modified a bit. I wash hands before cleaning
    records....

Man I just heard that Gene Wilder passed away - what a loss. Never has there been such a character.

Bulk gloves, blue Nitrile, from a discount store or Amazon. Thin enough to have good tactile feel to be sure you don't drop a record. Thick enough to keep the Tergitol mix off my skin. It's just detergent but I don't need to absorb it. No way to scratch a record with fingernails either.

I never thought about gloves but I have wondered if breathing this stuff in is such a good idea.
