Just hoping they continue through Stormwatch. I consider all those essential. Living in the Past would be awesome too, but I haven't heard anything about that being in the plan.
Wilson will likely stop at "Stormwatch" but Jakszyk is on board and may continue afterwards. "Broadsword" is an album loved both by the fans and by the band, I can see that one coming out. Ps. "A" is on my top 5 Tull albums.
I haven't listened to SFTW, HH, and SW in years. Did John Evans ever return to playing Hammond organ on these albums? I know he did on the tours. Although I'm a vintage keyboard/synth aficionado, I always preferred Tull when Evans was sticking to piano/organ and Palmer was arranging strings, not playing them on string synths.
I have never met anyone who didn't like "Heavy Horses". Two amazing left-over (but finished) tracks from its sessions were not featured on the 2003 remastered CD : "Blues Instrumental (Untitled)" and "Beltane". I imagine, if someone is willing to wait a little bit, that Steve Wilson's upcoming-in-line remix of HH should feature these; it should be highly worth the wait anyway! PS EDIT: I was actually replying to another Tull thread here... in my mind...
Funny enough, I used to think only Heavy Horses featured the "hoarse" IA voice, but if you listen to some of the tracks on Songs from the Wood, he's masked a new hoarseness on a few tracks (I want to say "Hunting Girl" has a bit of it) via judicious use of chorus and other effects.
In the "20 Years of Jethro Tull" booklet, it says "Circa 1978". For "Beltane", it does say "1977" though... I had always thought it sounded HH!
Yes 4WD, but no, actually I'm a big fan of BNI! It's just that I have grown a bit tired over the years of the little child's voice, or the way it is being used...
Blues instrumental will surely be added and Beltane was on sftw remaster which will be there too. Hopefully we get a couple of newbies on sftw
Yeah it's a cool track. Love strip cartoon, cigar orchestral and even salamander ragtime. Who knows Ian and the boys might stumble across the rest of the too old original tapes along with a finished version of advertising man and other tracks in time for a 45th anniversary remix
Beltane: Was it REALLY recorded in 1977? | The Jethro Tull Forum » Per 20 years of Tull liner notes: Beltane - copyright 1988 An unreleased track that did not make it to the Heavy Horses album. Recorded at Maison Rouge Studios, London in 1977. Ian Anderson - vocals, flute, saxophone Martin Barre - electric guitar John Glascock - bass John Evan - keyboards David Palmer - keyboards Barriemore Barlow - Drums The question is/should be: Why was this track included on the Songs From the Wood remaster and not on the Heavy Horses remaster? Songs From the Wood originally released Feb. 1977 & Heavy Horses released Jan. 1978.
Probably so there was a bonus track on sftw to increase sales. Same with minstrel and march the mad scientist
Then can we assume that recorded in 1977 means that it was intended actually for HH? And by the same logic that the "circa 1978" Blues Instrumental (as per the booklet from the 20 YoJT box set) would mean it was projected for the next album, i.e. "Stormwatch" of 1979?
