Would love to see this happen for those first two albums.
We saw them open for Joe Walsh and Mott the Hoople at the Hollywood Palladium in 1973.
    We actually went for BOC.

Something about a Nazi warplane on the cover had them jump the shark for me (for me, not for you).
I'm of the age where my dad and all of my friends' dads were WWII vets and we found nothing cute, cool or ironic hip about Nazi imagery and lyrics.
It always kept me from embracing this album.
    Silly I know.

And here I was hoping it was one of those "mine just shipped" posts. Was there any reason given for the delay? I'm very frustrated at the fact that it keeps getting pushed.

BOC just cranked out the classic albums back then.

Got my Audio Fidelity SACD today and promptly played the quad mix. Holy crap....tremendous. I never heard the quad mix before and it slays!!!! Sounds phenomenal as well. Note the quad mix was mastered and authored by Stephen Marsh , while the stereo mix is mastered by Steve and Stephen.

Regardless, Mr. Marsh did a killer job on the quad mix. Very immersive mix and just...WOW!!!!@@@@###!!!!

Sorry didn't listen to the stereo mix yet.

If this one does gang-busters sales wise, we might likely see another one like "Tyranny and Mutation". But this has to do really well for them to bother with quad again.

Great news. They may be shipping sooner than stated for everybody. I would love to see them do Fire of Unknown Origin.

That title would bankrupt the company, a near total stiff is what they call it.

"Fire of Unknown Origin" is a very good lp, though having a latter day BOC feel/sound. I also highly doubt it was released in quad.

On the other hand Tyranny & Mutation in stereo & quad would be an awesome choice and a great supplement to Secret Treaties.

But it was a very popular album, yes? Or do I misunderstand your post?

Yes, popular album, certainly not a stiff during it's era. My feeling is that time is marching on, and over a lot of music. Not every album is going to endure 30 50 or 100 years. Not every hit album is going to hit it as an audiophile release. And there is so much other music to be considered.

I don't think so. That's Blue Öyster Cult's most popular and best selling album. Way more popular than Secret Treaties or Tyranny and Mutation. A great next choice. Saying "time marches on" over Fire of Unknown Origin, but not other AF titles such as Blood, Sweat & Tears doesn't make much sense.
