A masterpiece of a song and a live performance.
Maurice filling in for the falsetto sections perfectly shows the amazing talent each brother had.
On Fanny I believe it is Robin that takes the falsetto lead on much of the chorus so despite the published story of how the late 70s sound arrived with it being only Barry on the studio version of this song they all were working to find that perfect blend.

One of their very best for sure, and a brilliant performance.

I love the whole album, even "Fanny" and "All This Making Love". Not a weak track among them. I think it´s unfair to remove the singles that may have become... overfamiliar. Just a bit. This is my list, in no particular order:

    * "Nights On Broadway" - pure class all the way
    * "Jive Talking" - interesting, funky, groundbreaking
    * "Wind of Change" - great, funky B-side - never get tired of this
    * "Country Lanes" - one of their most beautiful ballads - go Robin!
    * "Baby As You Turn Away" - perfect song for when you need to feel sorry for yourself

Wish I could include the rest of the album, and "Rest Your Love On Me". One of three best Bee Gees albums. In "My World", that´s pretty good.

To the best of my recollection:

    Country Lanes
    Edge of the Universe
    Fanny Be Tender
    Nights on Broadway
    Wind of Change

    That's 1 - 3 - 5 - 7 - 9, when you sort them back.

Even I think this is a fine album, and I like it better than all their other post-breakup early '70s LPs.

Great live version, and nice to see Mo get featured in the outro!

I had a hard time voting for just 5 songs on my favorite Bee Gees album.

Great album fron start to finish.
Anyone know if the in print Rhino Flashback cd uses the old Polydor mastering?

It sure is, it's practically its own greatest hits album!
I have several original vinyl copies of the original pressing in great condition, the funny thing is back in the day these were so easy to find dirt cheap (both new and used), a dime-a-dozen, not so much these days!
The same can be said for the other to disco related albums, and the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, I got so many copies of those.
As for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack on CD, the mfsl is my go-to version.

Love the stellar drumming of Dennis Bryon on main course, as well as the other Bee Gees he was on.
He was by far the best drummer the Bee Gees ever had.

I believe in his later career he did a lot of session work after the brothers Gibb

The funny thing is, that the album is regarded as a disco album, in fact it only has a portion of disco on it, actually pre disco, it's the array of styles and make the album great in my opinion.
The album is full course meal, appetizers, main course (LOL), and dessert!

Wonder if there are any bootlegs of the original ballad version.

It is a shame almost no one after 1976 was named "Fanny" because that is the song that should stand the test of time.

Just picked up the Rhino flashback CD from Amazon for $3.99 on sale plus it comes with a free Autorip digital copy of the album that's already been delivered to my Amazon music library, can't beat that!
Nice to know it is basically a cheaper reissue of the original Polydor mastering.
    Gotta Love Amazon Prime!
