  5. Well, currently I store them in a nice zip lock bag. Every so often I need a cable so I visit the bag and find what I need. I rummage through to find nothing that will work perfectly, at which point I purchase a new cable to fit the need. The bag gets neatly repacked and put away for another day. As I am putting the bag away I think to myself, "I should get rid of most of these cables."...In the cabinet the bag goes for another waiting period lasting months to years. A few of the RCA cables are from the 70's...What? They still work.

If your community has a cable TV local access station, see if they are interested. Or a local nonprofit might want them, community theatre, safe house for women, lots of places might have audio-visual needs. Even a school, public or private.
