I noticed that on No.2 it look over colourized. The ABKCO vinyl for between the buttons is the worst I have seen, like a 3rd generation photocopy.

KinkySmallFace1991 Will you come back to me, Sweet Lady Genevieve?

It's kinda ironic, isn't it? "Tell Me" closest to the longer UK edit of the song is on the US SACD version of the debut, while "Tell Me" closest to the US edit is on the new 2016 UK version of the debut.

The color on some of the front jackets of the CD sleeves leave a lot to be desired. A bootlegger could do a better job.

I should have said album covers

  5. It's starting to make me wonder if I even want anything from this set. I can't decide whether to get the set, or the separate issues. I'm starting to think none of it. How hard is it to make the covers decent? I can understand the cropping, they don't want these misidentified with the originals, but to be seemingly lackadaisical about this sort of important release to me is unacceptable. The 2002's were beautiful, why not continue that here?

I think @Tommyboy was referring to the 2010 set.

No, I was referring to the new CD box.

That being said the LP cover photos in the 2010 box set were terrible looking too.

Once again, I say, "You lucky dawg!"

I still have four days left. At least @lukpac has prepared me on the content itself, and you've prepared me for the packaging.

It ain't perfect, but I'll be happy I have it.

But the pictures he posted are of the Japanese CD box. It's possible that those covers will be uncropped.

And No. 2 looks *much* better in the Japan set than what you could see in Fremer's video..

PNeski asked "what cropping" and I pointed to the video, where it can be seen in the non-Japanese LPs.

I have no idea what the other releases look like in regards to cropping.

I know , it's a shame that it looks like they havnt put the effort in again. The Beatles mono vinyl box for example with the fold box sleeves and hardback book is an amazing set for the money so why can't they put the same effort in to the stones sets, as you said it's unacceptable for that amount of money.

It's worth paying the same for the SHM set when you can see the quality and detail that's gone into making it.

I'm having a hard time deciding.

The vinyl box is cut by Sean Magee, so I'm guessing it should sound really good, better than any original pressings that I could afford. But if the set itself just looks cheap it's hard to justify.

I just wanted to touch on this from @prof. stoned's Flowers thread:

My Girl on the new mono release fades about a second later than the 2002 stereo release, so I question whether it's a fold-down. The fade in mono is also longer and more gradual, while the stereo stays at full volume longer and then fades more abruptly.

Worth noting that Ride On Baby is about 6 seconds longer in mono.

I haven't yet done a close comparison with Sittin' On A Fence.

I like what I'm hearing thus far. Again not a night and day difference compared to the 2002 SACDs. I think this will bode well for the vinyl pressings. Just hoping GZ steps up its game.
