'Sticky Fingers' is that good. It's filled with classic songs from start to finish. Now to say which song is better than the next, that is up to the beholder. But it's not going to go away...it'll always be near the top. And I'm a huge power pop fan!

Can't You Hear me Knocking is in the perfect place. The first three songs get you ready. After the Wild Horses ballad, the opening riff of CYHMK is surprising and tremendous.

Why did I just spend the last few minutes reading this thread? I'll never get them back. I could have been rearranging my sock drawer. It's very disorganized.

Oh, but since I'm here, NO, just leave the damn thing the way the Stones issued it. It's a bloody classic. It ain't broke, and it sure don't need no fixin'.

Traveling Man is probably the best unfinished song in rock history, but it's unfinished. Sticky Fingers stays as it is.

But they really should find some way to release "Travelling Man" in an official capacity. Maybe as a bonus track on the next greatest hits thing they put out.

Put have the tracks on Goats Head, and you'd have a tastier soup. :)

There is no way that Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street could have been sequenced differently!

All four albums are a masterclass in how to sequence an album from start to finish.
That there is not a weak spot (yes, even 'Country Honk'!) on any of those albums, is not a bad thing either.

Country Honk - is the obligatory Ringo track.

I thought the Stones always worked on the idea of a big opener. Gimmie Shelter, Sympathy, Rocks Off. Not sure this would work.

While we're at it, let's give Susanna Hoffs a nose job.

Totally disagree. Let It Bleed would be much better with Honky Tonk Women instead of the inferior Country Honk. Country Honk could be used as a b-side.

I've asked you this before john , but never had a reply ! - i dont think the 'honky Tonk Women' single would have suited Let It Bleed ... Honky Tonk Women ( to me anyway ) sounds like it belonged on 'Sticky Fingers ' - thoughts ?

I think it fits with Let It Bleed and it was recorded around that time. It's also much better than Country Honk.

I have to agree with you John - the addition of Honky Tonk would have made a great album even better...

Yeah, its definitely better than country honk..although i do actually like country honk..
When i was young - my dad used to have a cassette of sticky fingers in his van.. he had stuck 'honky tonk women' on at the beginning before 'brown sugar' and it seemed to flow really nicely... it sounded perfect going into 'brown sugar' - the tones of the guitar, the open g tuning, it fitted in with the rest of the songs on the record..
I really think that 'honky tonk women' wouldn't sit well with the sound of the other tracks on let it bleed...
Thats just my opinion .. respect.

I'm not sure removing "Brown Sugar" is a good idea.

But I do agree that "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" would be a great opener.

Honky Tonk Women is a stand-alone single, and it doesn't fit anywhere on Let It Bleed in terms of feel.
It is much better placed on Sticky Fingers in that regard.
It must have been a crazy thing back then, with the single being released in june 1969 and by december being well known by fans, to hear it totally different and in country style on the album. Same with YCAGWYW. By the time the album came out, everyone was used to the 4 min. pop song and suddenly it becomes an epic piece on the album.
    Totally right decisions.
