Do you think the 4B is up to powering those the way they are meant to be?

Not as low as I was expecting.

Of the speakers that Graham Audio offers, I would go for the LS 5/8s. Those look like great speakers for music listening.

good question...i was gonna upgrade the amp anyway...the new bryston b3 (cubed) amps are something special...i would let you guys know on price of the system 3ds but i dunno whether i was quoted retail or a discount price...i'll be sure to let you guys know if you want...it's cheaper than you think, haha.

interesting stuff i have for you regarding my dealings thus far with the us distributor...

    1. he has yet to provide me his name and contact info

    2. he says that the 3ds are not a commercial product, when they are clearly being shown and advertised over at grahamaudio.co.uk.

    3. he expects me to wire him a massive amount of money to him without providing me with any contact info or to discuss the product and what have you over the phone..i think he would at least engage me in some sort of consulation and discussion due to the massive amount of money hewants wired-no pay pal or credit card as far as i know at this time...

    4. he tells me how much he wants to make off of the sale...fair enough, i like straightforwardness, but it's not chicken feed let me tell you. i can't even imagine the price once it goes to retail, if it ever does..let's just say it'll be well over 30k, when the dist. price is less than half that..you do the math...greed, perhaps?

    5. he originally quoted me a significantly cheaper price only to jack up the price today.

now, i amgetting close to letting the company know about this dude and his rather brash approach to the sale or deal...he's kinda gving me a hard way to go but the question is would they keep it confidential without going right back to him and starting world war 3...

    anyway...thoughts? comments? questions?

1 question i have is how do people that operate like this qualify to be distributors of a fine high end audio product?

Way to shady to spend any significant money with. Remember, you will need this guy for service and support as well. Just based on what you wrote I'd walk.

oh i know, for the kind of money he wants, he should be bending over backwards for me...instead he's just wants me to hand over the dough and acts like he's doing me a big favor by importing the damn things. i mean i told him i do the audio club and the magazine and that doesn't seem to make any difference to him that i would promote the hell out of graham audio if i think their speakers are the ultimate... all he seems to be worried about is $$$$$. it's like; "hello! this is your job!" again, i don't get it...i mean i would hope he's not a reflection of the dudes over at graham audio...but in reality, he is no matter what, and it's kinda sad. again, i can't believe how he was chosen to be a distributor...

as for contacting graham audio directly about this situation; will they keep the email to them confidential when asked..and would they care 1 way or another...perhaps it's not even worth it and check out some other speakers, rather than have to deal with a guy like this...

yeah true...*sigh* it's too bad as the speakers seem to be really good...i mean i really appreciate them being almost 100 percent hand tested and built in the uk, the all wood cabinets, and the custom drivers...i can't see how any audiophile wouldn't appreciate this...

Yeah, maybe; but I think they're too big for your room anyway. Bass bloat, lack of driver integration from close proximity, who knows what other issues from that geometry/spatial mismatch.

If you want serious, big-scale rockin' speakers for a room like yours, I'd suggest something like ATC SCM50's for a whole lot less money.

i see...well, there still is the ls5/8s...but i'm thinking i won't get that much grease out of the company as they're gonna protect their boy over here. even if it means losing a sale.after all, they chose him, not the other way around...

the atcs are excellent..the us dist. is based out of vegas and i know the guy..he did a demo for the club 2 or 3 years ago at of all places, the palms hotel and casino recording studio. i believe he was giving the club members a pretty good deal...not sure if that's still good or not. as for the model i would go for at least the scm 100s...but regardless, i see your point. plus, the atcs have better resale value i would think as well. of course there's also the b&w 802 d3s, bryston model t's, magico s series, and more...

I may be incorrect....but isn't Graham Audio the actual distributor in the US?

They contacted me a few times about becoming a dealer, but I never investigated to far in to who was bringing them over. I was under the impression that is was actually Graham doing it, just with an office in the US.
