My experience of reading the liner notes of the Jennifer Warnes The Hunter SACD suggest to me that the info on the sleeve notes may not be up to date, but just taken from whatever sleeve notes are to hand.

I need to get this SACD. Which vendor has the best price? Perhaps yesasia.com?

I am willing to bet that it is the same which is good for those who missed out on the Sony SACD originally, it now goes for $50 and up.

  4. That is the impression I've gotten as well from them.

How did the Manilow SACD sound? I've read here that the original CD didn't sound very good......

    Barry,

Are you thinking about The Well SACD? Or are there two versions of the Hunter SACD?

    Here's SACD-layer from Enigma - MCMXC a.D. ripped with PS3 and converted to 24-bit / 96 khz with Saracon.

No sounds higher than 20 khz so the master is definitely a PCM-source.

Sounds great to me though. That is the only one I have from this series.

Yes the SACD sounds great. Not much difference to original CD. The sound is a bit more "spacious."

I do hear difference, but since i am not really an audiophile, I have difficulty to describe it.:)
Spacious is one of them, I agree.

Not a problem. I have The Hunter Impex Gold CD as well. It sounds excellent but I just had to have the SACD :help:.

I bought this SACD a while back, and I was not impressed by the sound quality. Muddy is how I remember it. Other SACDs in this "series" have been excellent, but I was disappointed in this one. Not the most essential of compilations, but I like a few of the songs and I´d love to hear them sound great. :agree:

Another of the pop hits compilations SACDs seems to have been released. It´s called "EVERLASTING LOVE SONGS". [IMG]

I found the back cover as well, but I wasn´t able to post it here.

Thank you for watching out and caching up. It's kind of big news...

Warner HK joined the series (Made in EU, unnumbered so far).

    Everlasting Love Songs (V/A)

I am seriously consider this title - will go pop now. Price should drop down, when/if US retailers will offer it.

I've asked a few times whether the Diana Ross tracks cropping up on these things sound better than CD. Any takers?

It is listed on Hong Kong Universal Music's web shop as a pre-order....more expensive than the SHM-SACD reissue.

    The Singles 1969-1973 (SACD) »

Notice that it shares the same catalog number as the SHM-SACD reissue. According to the webpage, this hybrid version will only be released in HK and Macau. A distributor on Facebook mentioned this version comes in a digipak packaging and is pressed in Japan.

soundboy, thank you for interesting info, which is also kind of strange.

I don't remember that any two different products were issued with the same catalog number, but these two will be released even in different countries. However, catalog number (UIGY-15001), matched to Jpn Jewel case SHM-SACD could be changed, when real Hybrid SACDs will come.

When I checked the price tag $251, I thought it's some misprint... But then, I opened this page:
    搜尋結果: 'SACD' »

All local SHM-SACDs are $297, while Jewel case HK Hybrid SACDs from our List - $183. We know that retail of the last ones is $40.
What do you think is going on?

Remember the ABKCO SACDs of the Rollings Stones, Sam Cooke, and the Animals? These titles were originally released on hybrid SACDs, and then subsequently re-released as DSD-remastered CDs. They carried the same catalog numbers.

If you are talking about the prices, those are in HK dollars. Typical exchange rate means dividing the HK dollar amount by 7.8 (the exchange rate I use). So, a SACD with the price of HK$183 is roughly about US$23.46....which is roughly price you will see on sites like yesasia.com. Of course, promotions will bring prices down.

Btw, on its Facebook page, HK Universal has mentioned it may accept orders from overseas in the future.

Thanks for explanation - always happy to learn something.
So, Carpenters The Singles Hybrid SACD should be about $32 in digipak...
What about local SHM-SACDs, are they in d/p or jewel cases?

    sb,

You bring up a very good point mentioning the ABKCO SACDs. I was looking for Sam Cooke's At the Copa SACD a few years back. Looking at the sa-cd.net listing of At the Copa it shows that it's available on Amazon for as low as $6.67. But if you order the disc from Amazon you'll most likely get the CD and not the SACD. If I recall the At the Copa SACD is OOP and somewhat hard to find.
