Blackout night was in November 1994. The Seinfeld episode with George and Susan watching Mad About You aired in September 1995. I believe when Kramer and Paul Buchman appeared together, it was on Mad About You.

Add 200 Motels. Mike Nesmith plays Zappa on the Monkees, Ringo Star plays Zappa in 200 Motels, Zappa appears briefly in Head.

    No! Not the Blue Boy!

Even at 12, I saw this when it first aired and said, "what the F is with the rearscreen projection behind these actors?" Jack Webb was one of these directors who was convinced that nobody at home could tell. Haaaarible.

I think the Mad About You/Seinfeld connection ran only one way, so to speak. Kramer was a "real" person in the Mad About You universe. But Mad About You was only a sitcom in the Seinfeld universe, one that Susan loved and George was forced to watch. I think when Paul ran into Jerry Seinfeld on an episode of Mad About You, the character "Jerry Seinfeld" would have still been stuck in prison in the Seinfeld universe.

The last two or three Seinfeld seasons, apart from a few notable recurring plot lines, tended to be more scattershot in creative direction with a wider variety of writers than in the earlier seasons. The writers may not have been paying attention to details like the connection between the show and Mad About You.

That's because Larry David was no longer on board.

The episode with George and Susan watching Mad About You in bed was the 7th season opener. Larry David was credited as the writer of that episode. Maybe he just wanted to screw with the continuity nerds (like myself). :D

I did a half-hearted search but Jerry Seinfeld never seems to give a definite answer about it. I think he likes leaving that stuff up in the air.

Just watched the Rhoda wedding episode, featuring the stars of all those shows - and a great cameo by James L Brooks.
