    Hey all,
I just got the LP set but haven't gotten a chance to listen to it yet, so I'm listening to the album via Apple music subscription.
I've definitely heard a difference from my CD rips(apple lossless), the Apple music sounds a little more detailed and its definitely a different mix.
So here is my conundrum, is there a major difference in the HDtracks version? Since I can't just download a single song to compare :(, is it worth it? I'm not going to needle drop the entire set, though for serious listening I'll spin the lip's.

Definitely not a different mix. The mastered for iTunes versions are mastered slightly differently as Apple is fighting brickwalling.

Mateo Sanboval For me, the action is the juice.

Really? I was unaware that this was what the Mastered For iTunes banner was all about.

Me too. I thought it was just about variable bitrates vs fixed ones or sonething?

I purchased the Apple version of the box set and I'm quite happy with the sound from what I have heard so far.
There is no MFiT banner on the Cdn. site, however it is showing as a 2016 remastered set.

No, they are the same mastering for all digital stores. Engineers "master for iTunes", then this is sent everywhere. iTunes is only concerned with peak level, not brickwalling.

Is it worth it for the "higher" bitrate HDtracks files? Or is HDtracks just upsampling?

Ah, that's good to know. So the iTunes mastering requirements have had a good knock-on effect for the rest of the market then.

I thought the peak level limiting also had a been a way of addressing brickwalling, but ho hum....
