Like a lot of people (probably) I'm wondering if this is the end?

Leonard must have recouped his fortune (in a gruelling way and at a time of life when it can't have been that easy) and is probably better off now than he's ever been. Having provided for his family, is it now back to the Zen monastery to spend the rest of his life in silent contemplation?

    We mustn't be greedy....

Wonder will we get another track before the release? Think there were two released in advance of Old Ideas but only recall Almost Like the Blues ahead of Popular Problem's birth.

    Thanks for that link.

Title track gives me chills. What a great song.

They've been playing it on my local NPR station and whenever it comes on I have to stop dead in my tracks and listen to it until it's over.

For anyone interested, Barnes & Noble will have an exclusive white vinyl version:

Do we know if the vinyl is sourced from analog? Meaning if the release is AAA?

I remember an article about Cohen's son helping to produce the album. It didn't mention analogue recording.

That's for sure digital I think. Vinyl pre-ordered already.

Everything I've read about Cohen's recording practices in recent years has suggested he's recording digitally all the way down.

Fine, that's the time we have. However his voice could sound lovely on vinyl record IMHO.

It will still sound lovely on vinyl, whether recorded analogue or digital!

If it only has a DR9 like Popular Problems, will you boycott it?

Well, I have had enough of bad recorded, compressed music from ****ty producers and mastering engineers nowadays. Hope this one will be well produced and DR value is not only the judgment.

All of sudden it looks like the vinyl release date has changed to November 25, 2016 -- at least here in the US.

The Paul Kalkbrenner remix of 'You Want It Darker' is now on Spotify.

Sounds great. Have to love Leonard for doing this - the coolest 82 year old on the planet.

Thanks for posting this. I wouldn't have known it existed otherwise.

Here's the full version on YouTube:

    It can be purchased for $1.29 ( iTunes | Google | amazon.com)

YouTube also has a slightly shorter "live" version of the remix at Lollapalooza. As one would expect, watching the crowd there's a mix of enthusiasm and indifference. Kalkbrenner is energetically into it, occasionally lip syncing. While not my cup of tea, it's great to see Cohen getting this kind of support and potential exposure.

Yes fantastic article. And presumably they will follow it with a full review of the album in due course.

What an extraordinary piece. Thank you. I somehow missed it when processing this issue for the library (not that I would have had time to read it right then).
