Maybe a 1981 show might be interesting, but...I've never really had a reason to revisit the real albums, so...unless there's a bunch of stuff he wrote in that time period that isn't about jesus, I can't get too excited about this.

I never like the name people gave to this point in Bob's career, "The Gospel Years".

Yes. They are Christian songs. But they don't really sound all that different then most of his other material.

Slow Train was the first Dylan album I ever heard. I liked it then and I still love those songs.

I don't know. When I hear Dylan - The Gospel Years, I think of some made for TV Elvis album.

(Not that there anything wrong w/ liking Elvis Gospel Years. Just not my thing.)

The infamous, anonymous "source". Call me a Doubting Thomas, but I'll believe it when I see the press release.

I'm extremely excited about this. Dylan was performing with immense passion during this stretch, and the band was well-rehearsed and tight. I love what I've heard, and like the other BS releases, we will likely be surprised by things we don't know about. It's probably at the top of my list of priorities for BS!

This "infamous, anonymous source" is generally believed to be Jeff Rosen & Rolling Stone has been on the money with this source for the last several Bootleg Series releases. I think you can pretty much bet on a Gospel Years collection.

I'll be in for this. The Bootleg Series has only gotten better and better as it continued. The revisit to Self Portrait shocked the heck out of me, how good it was. I'm sure a gospel set will be fabulous.

Hopefully it comes with a bottle of water from Pat Boone's pool.

While I like what it says about "The Gospel Years," I'm a tad put-off by the lukewarm description of other potential years, BoT included. I guess it will all be good in the end.

Will be the first Dylan release I will pass on if true. I have every official Dylan release on my iPod except Slow Train Coming and Saved.

Slow Train is one of my favorite albums...you don't need to be overtly religious or even believe in God to enjoy the album. IMO it stands on it's own as a well written and played album.

Agreed. I prefer Saved though for the increased intensity and the brilliant phrasing.

Great. I love the passion he put into the period. It has some of his most impressive vocal work to my ears. Very emotional.
