I wonder if goofy Halloween-themed movies might be appropriate. Among them:
    • Jekyll and Hyde, Together Again
    • Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde

I don't know why I didn't find this movie scary. I watched it twice. What was scariest to me was what it would be like to be the parent of a fully ADHD child with issues. The monster part was a throwaway.

Been watching the newly released remastered sets of Frankenstein and The Wolfman Universal blu ray releases.

Wow is all I can say, the clarity is amazing and the sound very good. Makes the older DVD's look like VHS.

Watched von Trier's 'Antichrist' again last night. That kind of counts as scary. I'll probably watch 'From Dusk Til Dawn' tonight.

Why aren't there any scary movies in the theatres this year, though? No one wanted to green-light 'It Follows 2'?

No spoilers but when I had seen that movie the first time, I thought the ending was pretty obvious very early on. Was actually expecting a twist of the twist which never occurred.

Well, you just can't beat the classics. Dracula , Frankenstein , Rocky Horror.

But the last really creepy movie I enjoyed was 'Tusk' .
It goes from comedy (except for the leg-LOL), to a horror story, to a tragedy. Interesting twists all the way, and it creeps up on you before you know it. I wanted to watch it again right away, but.... I didn't want to watch it again - right away ! Creep City.
(...and I almost died laughing when they played the song 'Tusk' ! )

The Beast And The Magic Sword
Dark Shadows episodes ( Josette is not long for this world folks)
Listened to a needle drop of the Johnson Smith Horror record.
Parts of it were deliciously politically incorrect.
I wonder if parents would let their kids listen to this sort of thing these days.
Can almost taste those orange wax harmonicas.

Watched The Mummy (1932) tonight and even at 73 minutes WOW did it drag. I was either not in the right frame of mind for this film or I'm starting to grow weary of the early 30's Universal horror formula.

2 things bugged me especially. (3 if you count the VERY slow pace.) First was Edward Van Sloan's character as the doctor. Basically the same doctor he played in Dracula which was basically the same doctor he played in Frankenstein. Second is the whole damsel in distress thing. Does there always have to be a woman in the center of things that the monster of the hour ends up dying for? I swear to God, there's always a scene where the woman is lying on a couch with some sort of health issue and some dapper dude saying, "Gosh I love you so!" And in this case - "Even though I only met you yesterday." Ok, it wasn't quite as blatant in Frankenstein, but the woman on the couch scene sure did happen.

Sigh. So yeah, The Mummy happened. Not my favorite, I guess.

    I can relate.

Although I regard them highly, Yeah, IMO you really have to be in the right frame of mind for some of those Mummy movies, but I have had a few enjoyable viewing sessions with them, and a few times I have had to shut it off half way through.

I guess I've watched most of the Universal classic monsters way too much over the years thus suffering a bit of burnout on them, and now I have the restored Frankenstein and Wolfman sets to wade through. I'll just have to make sure I'm in the right mood. Le'ts see, very late at night, a pizza just out of the oven or some fresh popcorn, yeah.....that may help.:-popcorn:

I watched Zombie and Maniac this weekend. Not sure what I will watch next weekend. I wished I had a copy of Night Of The Demons. I really have been wanting to watch that one again.

Watched Tales of Halloween tonight, a Trick 'r Treat clone though not as good. Lots of extremely short vignettes, none are very deep in terms of plot. Some are reeeeeeally dumb and some really fun. Overall, not bad.

But it does have the classic " do you always have to dig up graves to find girls to fall in love with" line.
