Rega RP6 with Groovetracer upgrades so it is probably a Rega RP38 by now.

    Project debut carbon.

  4. Not being really impressed with many of the new turntables out there, with their plastic platters, externally exposed rubber band drives and mickey mouse plastic tone arms, I opt out for traditional type more substantial turntables and some old high tech.

1). ADC-Accutrac +6 programmable, wireless remote control, fitted with a Shure M97xe. This is hooked up to my home theater system.

2). Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB, using Shure M24H(CD-4 Quad), M97xe, M78S and a Pickering NP/AC cartridge. This is hooked up to my quad system.

3). QRK professional radio station TT with a standard tubular "S" tone arm which I can interchange headshells with my other TT's. I use this TT once in a while with
any of my systems. Because it's an idler drive with a huge Bodine motor, it's too noisy for quad.

4). GLI belt drive TT. It comes out of the same factory in China as the AT's, Music Hall, etc. I interchange headshells with my other TT's. I most often use the
Shure M97xe cartridge. I use this TT with my computer to do needle drops to create .wav files and it is ideal for it's silent running.

I use a stripped Lenco L75 with Werner's Thrust Plate in a heavy, furniture-grade, re-purposed vintage Rek-O-Kut plinth with custom, DIY brass and Sorbothane feet. The mat is a gold mat from an Empire 498 with a thin rubber mat beneath it for a VTA adjustment I needed that wasn't mechanically possible. Tonearm is an Empire 980 mounted on the wood surface of the plinth beneath the Lenco, so it does not contact the metal top plate. I use a couple different record weights. One is made of glass. The other is a prototype brass weight made for me by a friend in the industry that was a product they wanted me to test. So it's basically a Lenco/Empire hybrid. I really love the sound of the Empire 498, but also wanted the attributes of a rim drive. Most of the sound of the Empires, believe it or not, is that mat and the tonearm. Those mats have a particular sound that I really enjoy. The arm is fantastic, if you can find a good one...vastly underrated, and I've had some sick and expensive tonearms. The Empire arm sounds like it looks: fat and golen. Took purchasing and blowing through a few of them to find one that was in good order, but when it's working right, it's a gem. This Lenco has been my main deck for many years. There have been many iterations of the project, different plinths, various tonearms, mats...ever changing. The current incarnation is, by far, the best it's ever sounded and I have no plans to change it other than a cosmetic tweak here or there.

LP12 upgraded to current Akurate Level but running Dynavector 20x2H rather than a Linn cartridge.

Looking for second turntable for Home Office, awaiting to hear the Project Classic over next couple of weeks.
