Columbia has done a minium job releasing any Biggs complete albums in their original form...but has put out a 1/2 dozen or so, compilation type things.
Welcome aboard. As noted above there are some great boxed sets at amazing prices which are good samplers, as well as the streaming options. Two boxes I would recommend are the DG History of Classical Music in 24 Hours or its larger sibling on 100 CDs.
First listen to "O tuneful voice" performed by (the lovely and talented) Emma Kirkby, Rufus Muller, Timothy Roberts and Frances Kelly on Hyperion. Songs and duets from late 18th-century London.
I have been working my way through the Gunter Wand big box set issued by Sony. Good stuff. Esp. The Bruckner symphonies. As I have previously posted-I had none of his recordings previously. This box is definitely a keeper.
Now playing Cantatas Nos 34 & 175 from one of the LP's in this 11-LP Karl Richter Munich Bach Orchestra box from my JS Bach collection ... It is next to impossible to find a decent sized image of this box online.
Very enjoyable with Espresso with melted dark chocolate...and my cat in the middle of the living room soaking the sun...She LOVES Lute music....
I am seriously considering going for the following 26-CD box, as I clearly do not have all of K Richter's Bach Cantatas recordings on LP ...
Now playing LP1 from the following 3-LP box from my Handel collection, one of my several Handel Oratorios by Johannes Somary with the English Chamber Orchestra ... It is a shame the following CD box is OOP
Nice performance and decent sound so far but lousy listening experience as side 1 and side 2 are on different records ...
Spinning in glorious 1s and 0s coverted to analog along the way! Curious if anyone else enjoys MacDowell's music. ?????
I like what I've heard, which isn't much. I have four works on four composer compilation albums. Hexentanz on a Naxos American Classics sampler I bought at a thrift store for $.50. Looking it up, it's the Witches' Dance from the album you posted. A.D. 1620, Op. 55/3, another piano piece on the Myra Hess APR release Piano Sonata No. 4 in E minor, Op. 59, "Keltic" on a great Peter Seivewright album, American Piano Sonatas, Vol. 1, that includes piano sonatas by Elliot Carter and Miklós Rózsa Suite for Large Orchestra, Op. 42 from the Howard Hanson album with the clown on the cover that was posted yesterday.
