RIP Mr. Lebowski! One of the all times great movie monologues is yours

Funny–I can look back on a life of achievement, on challenges met, competitors bested, obstacles overcome. I’ve accomplished more than most men, and without the use of my legs. What? What makes a man, Mr. Lebowski?

I've seen TBL a dozen times. I enjoy all the Coen Brothers films. After you see a film a few times, you start to notice the little things that you question later on.
Goodman nails his character and that part in there with Donnie volunterring his "I am the walrus" line is hilarious.

Donny was a good man ... and a good bowler.

He'll either be remembered for THAT line, or:
"Never mind that $%it! Here's comes MONGO!"

    Lebowskians should all watch this.

The same site has a series of scholarly meditations on TBL.

This is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps.

It's also what happens when you feed a soldier scrambled eggs.

I don't think it would be much of a competition.

I think I know what they are referring to with the word 'Johnson',but as I am English I
have no idea of its origin for that particular part of the anatomy.
    Could someone please explain.

    Were the synonyms offered insufficient?

I do find it hard to believe that The Dude doesn't know what his Johnson is! :)

I think when The Dude has burned one or had a few Caucasians he tends to simply repeat things said to him ... either immediately or on slight delay, in the parlance of our times.

The primary author of the REAL Port Huron Statement (fictionally attributed to The Dude in "TBL") passed away yesterday. A thread recognizing that passing got shut down after one post for being "political". So without even mentioning his name, I hereby raise a White Russian in his memory.

Surely this is topped by Ken Loach's Sweet Sixteen - or do the Glaswegian accents help nullify the effect?

I played golf last weekend and after my buddy tanked the hole we were playing he said "mark it eight, dude". Fully knowing that he was referencing the film, we both laughed all the way to the next tee box.
My new favorite line is "Who the **** are the Knudsens?" for some reason. That whole "shamus" exchange with the late Jon Polito (so brilliant in "Miller's Crossing" too) is wonderful, yet is puzzlingly neglected when these Lebowski discussions come up. You could even say that it gets the high hat.
