I just saw this on the Acorn channel.

It's really lovely show. The sets, props, clothes, lighting, script. Really solid work.

There was a thread here 2 years ago now closed. I'm hoping that some Beatles/George Martin fans will give this a chance as it really deserves it.

There is some funky casting, Epstein doesn't look right and their John Lennon is a dead ringer for Roger Daltrey. The actors are all very effective nevertheless.

The minor historical errors are worth mentioning. Epstein's business card looked wrong, too modern. They had George Martin manning the REDD desk himself, something he would not do in 1963/4 - he had engineers for that.

I read that Cilla Black was one of the most hated people in Brit Show Business. I wonder if they touched on that?

Ha, nope. The story ends when she embarks on her variety show host career.

But I read that she was mean BEFORE she ever had a Variety Show!

She *did* demand that her boyfriend/road manager Bobby not embark on a recording career after Epstein offered him a contract.

Would've been OK, but they decided to re-record the songs with the Actress, which ruined it for me.

Sheridan Smith has a better voice than Cilla Black ever had.

I didn't see all 3 parts. I saw most of part 1 and some of part 2. They showed it here in Canada earlier in the year. I thought she did a good job as Cilla.

Canada still gets Brit shows we won't get in the States. I remember watching MISS JONES AND SON with Paula Wilcox there in 1977, and they got PYTHON five years ahead of the US!

I watched this three part show on PBS over the last couple of weeks and absolutely loved it. Thought the period detail was great and Sheridan Smith was fantastic. Such a better and more appealing singer than Cilla. Perfectly cast and nailed it. Wish I could find a copy region coded for the States to share with friends. I usually dislike this sort of biopic cause they’re so lame but this one was terrific.

Watched this recently and enjoyed it very much. Actually the only thing that jarred for me was how un-Bacharach-like the Burt Bacharach character was. :)
