If I understand correctly, it'll take $10 off one record for each of us. So it'll be $17 for one or $65 for three, shipped.

I've since given referral dibs to the redditor who sourced that it would be from Pallas, since he really was the deciding factor that I'd want this. But apparently their referral link generator is down right now.

I'm pretty sure VMP typically uses the same pressing plant/mastering as the regular release/reissue. For each release it will vary.

Edit: That's a first I think. Sorry for the misinformation.

Looks like Sea Change and Guero are going to be reissued as well. Guero is being crammed onto a single disc, which is unfortunate. The 2xLP 45RPM release was just fine as it was (and still available from Amazon). There's really no need to cram 50 minutes of music onto a single album.

I haven't listened to it myself, but someone elsewhere mentioned that there's a Vinyl Me, Please podcast about their release of Odelay that claims Beck himself is the reason it's getting pressed at Pallas, and they have a FAQ page about "who presses our records" which indicates that the licensing labels are usually the ones who choose where VMP's records are pressed.

So it seems like a possibility that the new Sea Change and Guero reissues are also getting pressed at Pallas...

Just received my Vinyl Me Please reissue. I can confirm that the sonics are exquisite. It is mostly noiseless - no background hiss or static; the occasional pop or tick, but in no way aggravating. It was perfectly flat and very nicely packaged. My copy arrived with one noticed imperfection on "Ramshackle" in the final minute of the track. There is a scratch that is obvious through approximately 10 rotations. Disappointing yes... but it didn't sour me on the record, as it is mostly clean and awesome sounding. Highly recommended.

Just played my copy of the VMP Odelay, which was flat and without any background noise. However, it seemed quiet and lacking in the energy I remember from the original pressing.

Really? It's mastered more loudly than any other recent reissue I've purchased!

Yeah. That's weird. I had to turn my volume way higher than I usually have it.

They'll replace that for you, and you probably won't have to send back the defect. Get in touch with VMP.

One of the best things about this record is that even with an occasional pop or tick, it's not distracting ... because there's plenty of vinyl noise in the mix itself! :)

The sky blue Bong Load edition is noisy and definitely needs cleaning before play. I know there is baked in noise on some tracks but not all. I'm liking both of the Bong Load reissues Odelay and MG the more I play them. I'm sure the VMP is really good.

my VMP copy is completely defective on side one with awful noise throughout. side 2 is perfect. thankfully they're sending me a replacement, completely hassle-free as always.

There's someone selling one on discogs with the same description. I was tempted to grab it just to see how bad it really is. It's THAT bad?

I messaged the guy and asked if he tried cleaning it and he told me it's a defect. What a shame.

Do the grooves look sort of 'blurry' when held under the light? As in, not cleanly defined cut grooves compared to other LPs you own?

If so.. I've got a few Smiths Rhino releases that have spots like this as well as The New Pornographers' Twin Cinema where the entire side two is blurry. It makes a terrible static distortion throughout the side that is really evident on quiet spots as well as the between track banding. The replacement I got was from the same bad batch.

Crap...I bought that Discogs copy. Figured the dude was just ultra-sensitive to surface noise, and, maybe, didn't bother cleaning. Oh well, it was only $12. Maybe VMP will replace "my" copy too.

    Haha oh man.
He said he washed it twice on a VPI and it was most certainly a defect. Very bad on side 1, not nearly as bad on side 2.

Let me know if VMP sends a replacement. I was thinking the same thing, but never pulled the trigger.

Yep, that's how mine sounds, too—both sides. I've never heard a defect quiet like it. They were happy to replace it, though I still haven't gotten a shipping notice...

hard to see due to the color, but the distortion sound is familiar to one of the smiths rhino lps that i also experienced in similar fashion.

Will do! Ya know, I just bought both Bong Load reissues, and I'm planning on purchasing the DGC when released on 12/2. I've got problems
