I love them since "Up In It" and I also saw them the first time live at this time and followed their development until "1965". Don't like their reunion album so much because I miss Rick McCollum, such great lead/soli guitar player.

The announcement includes a tease that they've been in the studio - new LP in 2017. Rick is not onboard, though, based on this interview:

Press release on the Traffic Entertainment titles for RSDBF 2016:

TRAFFIC ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES TWO UNIQUE VINYL OFFERINGS FOR “BLACK FRIDAY” RECORD STORE DAY (FRI, NOV 25)

Nigerian Funk compilation Calibar-Itu Road (on Comb & Razor Sound, in exclusive silkscreened cover); and Rudy Ray Moore’s Dolemite: This Ain’t No White Christmas LP

For a list of participating U.S. stores where these exclusive items can first be purchased in-person-only on November 25, visit http://www.recordstoreday.com/Venues

VARIOUS Calabar-Itu Road: Groovy Sounds from South Eastern Nigeria (1972-1982)
2-LP with exclusive hand silk-screened slipcase cover and extensive, in-depth liner notes booklet

When most people think about Nigerian music, the first thing that comes to mind is the city of Lagos—the country’s main commercial center, the glittering megacity that spawned Yoruba-speaking music luminaries such as Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Sir Shina Peters and Wizkid. But Nigeria is a country of rich diversity, especially in its music: From the Igbo highlife and rock bands of east-central region; to the deep Edo roots rhythms from the Midwest; to the keening, ornamented Fulani melodies of the north.

One region whose music has remained largely underexplored is the southeastern land of the Efik and Ibibio ethnic groups in Cross River and Akwa Ibom State – the region colloquially referred to as “Calabar.” A cradle of culture, this region was one of the earliest outposts of Nigerian popular music. Its primordial rhythms traveled across the Atlantic during the slave trade to provide the part of the foundation for Afro-Cuban grooves that would go on to influence the development of jazz, rock & roll, R&B and funk.

With the Calabar-Itu Road compilation, the acclaimed Comb & Razor Sound label – imprint owner Uchenna Ikonne’s received considerable renown earlier this year thanks to his involvement with the compilation Wake Up You! The Rise and Fall of Nigerian Rock, 1972 – 1977 (Now-Again Records) – presents 15 heavy tracks recorded in the decade between 1972 and 1982.

This truly unique compilation spotlights rare music from “Calabar” superstars such as Etubom Rex Williams, Cross River Nationale, Charles “Effi” Duke, The Doves and Mary Afi Usuah. The single LP vinyl package – which for Record Store Day boasts an exclusive silkscreened cover by ANTI Designs – features a magazine-style booklet containing a wealth of information about the milieu with rare photographs and illustrations.

RUDY RAY MOORE / DOLEMITE This Ain’t No White Christmas!
Single LP with X-Rated picture sleeve

Rudy Ray Moore was a storyteller extraordinaire, a hilarious, low-down dirty man, and a legit trailblazer in the world of no-holds-barred, ****-the-censors comedy.

This classic, live Christmas album shows Moore in the 1970s form that cemented his late-night legacy. Side 1 is for early evening listening, when family and respectable friends might still be around. (The dirty stuff is for the flip.) The song “Merry Christmas, Baby” starts things off – a slow, dusty blues number bolstered by a wobbly but upright backing band. The song itself is PG, extolling the virtues of a caring partner and the joy of the season. Truth be told, it’s a warm and wonderful holiday song.

With the band gently strolling behind him, he then lays into Christmas tales from childhood up through modern day trials, tribulations and hilarities. “I can remember when me and my brother were six years old,” he says. “We hung our stockings up on the mantelpiece, and the health department made us take them down.” Good old fashioned family fun.

But with the man also known Dolemite, the “down and dirty” is never far away. Side 2 is where things get good (and X-rated), for the late night listening pleasure. It all starts with Rudy retelling “The Night Before Christmas” – with his grooving backing band – in his trademark raunchy style, complete with mice and rats getting it on. Also included on this side is a psychedelic blues number, detailing Brother Rap’s visit to heaven (to get dirty, of course). And it all finishes up with a thematically appropriate Christmas themed tale, with the term mother****er used in potentially record-breaking numbers.

It’s what you’d expect from the legendary, foul-mouthed, groundbreaking comedy legend. A perfect way to keep the Holidays from becoming too much of a Hallmark moment.

As most of you know, a mini version of Record Store Day takes place on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving in the U.S.). It appears that the Radiohead "A Moon Shaped Pool" is going to be one of the limited releases. It's popped up on a few sites with a release day of November 25th (same day). Anyone have an information on this? Do you think it's the same version as the one on Radiohead.com? Or perhaps a different color vinyl? I mean, I know it's the same tracklisting, same discs, but curious about the other details. I think the official release list comes out this week as well.

Super excited for Porno for Pyros "Good Gods Urge." The original vinyl release was promo only and impossible to locate. And even if it could be found I'm way priced out of that game. Cannot wait to snatch that up! Haven't been this excited for an RSD release since, well, last RSD... ;)

"Kind of" is a good way to put it because any schmuck could go on Radiohead.com and buy it.. Hope the official list is soon because the rumored releases are dismal...

I love spending a lot of money on this day. However, I'll have a tough time getting up at 2:00am for this list. Realizing everyone has different tastes, is there anything on this list that's making anyone excited like "I cannot believe they're releasing this! I'm spending the night"?

Really disappointing official list. I think I'll stay home, maybe see if there's any decent leftovers on Bullmoose's website.

Well, I won't stay home. Any reason to go to Amoeba Hollywood. But you know, one year, they filmed us in line and asked "Why are you at the front of the line? What are you here for?" I always had an answer. This time: what am I supposed to say? The RUN-DMC "Christmas in Hollis" picture disc? The Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo disc? Disappointing.

The Wonder Years raised an eyebrow. Adored the show and the acoustic piece at the end credits always seemed to coincide with Sunday meal. Can smell the gravy and mint sauce from here. Bit concerned the tracklisting below doesnt obviously show that its included. Any ideas who that was?

Joe Cocker - "With A Little Help From My Friends",
Was (Not Was) - "Baby I Need Your Loving"
    Judson Spence - "Drift Away"
Buffalo Springfield - "For What It's Worth"

First time black vinyl. It was released as a fairly crappy sounding picture disc set originally.

I will definitely agree about the crappy quality of the picture disc! I'm totally in for the double dip.

That pretty much describes me with this Black Friday list, except I think I'll just get the CD version. It came out a couple months ago. I'd been half-expecting a Beatles live EP to promote the movie/album, but no such luck.
