Those 3 guys? They're gone boys and the likes of them will never be seen again.

Was just watching 'Hail, Hail, Rock n' Roll' the other day and Roy Orbison said that he saw and heard country influence in Chuck Berry's music as well, especially from a lyrical and storytelling standpoint.

Now, Cody Jinks is a bit of a throw back to the olden country. Not the polished stuff you hear today.
The other three Whiskey Myers, Old Crow Medicine Show and Turnpike Troubadours have a bit of bluegrass, southern rock and country all mixed in. I wouldn't call this anything close to the country groups you hear on the radio. This is all great stuff.

By the way, country for me are the standards, Waylon, Willie, Merle, Johnny and Kris. You can also throw in Dwight Yoakam, George Strait etc.....

This is much better pop-country than Sam Hunt or Thomas Rhett.

Todd W., you are my new music guru; you can build a playlist for me anytime.

A few reommendations for you based on your choices above(though you probably know all of them): Truth & Salvage Co., Yarn, American Aquarium, Trampled By Turtles and The Avett Brothers.

Chris Knight had a minor hit with this song in 1997, but has had virtually no airplay since, though he continues to make excellent music.

Kacey Musgraves is all of the modern country I can take. Of course I like Cash, Willie, Waylon and Merle. And Dolly Parton is one of the greatest songwriters of all time who deserves to be mentioned with Dylan, Cohen, Springsteen, etc.
