amazing selection. there are more good songs there in a week than have been on the top ten in the last ten years.

Such a rock solid list, I couldn't keep it to my typical 5 so here's my top 10:
    1. Beat It - Michael Jackson
    2. Faithfully - Journey
    3. Little Red Corvette - Prince
    4. Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
    5. Rio - Duran Duran
    6. Separate Ways - Journey
    7. Der Komissar - After The Fire
    8. Let's Dance - David Bowie
    9. Photograph - Def Leppard
    10. Jeopardy - Greg Kihn Band
Hard to imagine that in the same year, we were experiencing the early days of Michael Jackson's, Journey's and Prince's "imperial phases" where they could pretty much do no wrong. (Faithfully may or may not have been my first middle-school formal slow dance, hello Anne-Marie, wherever you are!) I also added in killer singles from Bowie, Duran Duran and a pre-accident Def Leppard, along with the classic Jeopardy and the better-than-the-original-IMHO After The Fire English-language cover of Falco's classic. Awesome stuff!!

Nice chart. I voted for my top 10 (in approximate order):

    1 Billie Jean
    2 Rio
    3 Let's Dance
    4 Beat It
5 She Blinded Me With Science
    6 Little Red Corvette
    7 Der Kommissar
    8 It Might Be You
9 Time (Clock Of The Heart)
    10 Mornin'

I also love "Come On Eileen" and "My Love".

john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

Could only find three songs I find worthy of listening to... 'nuff said about the 80's in general (IMHO).

    I have in my collection #1, 3, 7 (the original Harvest 45), 14, and a promo for #16 (on Harvest). Now, let's see . . .
    - #4 - initially thought it was an ELO number. I've heard similar vocal arrangements emanating from Jeff Lynne and company.
    - #11 obviously wasn't the same as the Neil Sedaka composition. I'm sure ditto for #12 viz Barry Manilow . . .
    - #15, though clearly different, doesn't hold it for me the way the Ringo "Photograph" does.
    - What is it with Lionel Richie and recycled song titles? #17 doesn't even come close to the Paul McCartney/Wings number. Let alone Petula Clark's.

The only one that tempted me after "Billie Jean" is Culture Club, but not enough to pick it.
