It could also be that they didn't feel like posing for a photo session.

The Who should have done the right thing and, like Zeppelin, hung it up when Moon died. They were never "The Who" after that. But they muddled on becoming more irrelevant which each passing year. After Entwhistle died they should have just started calling themselves " Townsend Daltry". It's just painful for me to watch them these days so I generally don't.

Don't get carried away...maybe after It's Hard/Who's LAST. But Face Dances was a very solid album, something Page and Zeppelin probably weren't capable of. Different beasts.

Oh, knock it off. The Who weren't modeling themselves on what Led Zeppelin did. Funny you should mention Entwhistle dying, yet you overlooked that his playing was put on greater display after Moon kicked it. Typical posturing from people, who weren't listened to then and seek affirmation from other overaged rockers on a message board.

The Stones died spiritually sometime in the 80s. The thing which has crawled on tours and put out average records since 1989 is the zombie.

The Replacements. If not by Don't Tell A Soul, then definitely by All Shook Down.

When Moe left the dying began. The self titled record with Yule is arguably their greatest album, and at the very least it stands with the first two. My favorite VU would probably be the live stuff from The Matrix Tapes.

The decline actually started in the '80's, IMO. They never matched those first four records (and, of course, the great Chronic Town).

    Yeah they were.

Maybe not what *you* deem to be "The Who" but they had every right to carry on after Moon's death. Now, whether you consider it true The Who or not is a different matter, but don't tell three original members they had no right to carry on. They wouldn't care about your opinion nor would 90% of their audience.

Neil Young has put out more crap albums since 2010 than the Beatles did in their entire history.
