I love the harmonies and atmosphere. I guess I'm also a fan of Paul when he's in R&B mode.

"Big Barn Bed" would've been an intriguing choice for 45 release in the summer of 1973 as a follow up to "My Love". Perhaps if he didn't have the Bond movie to plug that summer. Certainly less left field a choice than "Mary Had A Little Lamb" was the prior year...

Well, maybe I have to revisit it...always found it to sound like Muzak.

Too bad they cut it off right before Tom got to the "You can hear them singing la-la.." part.. :(

May I just be the first person to say...Bip Bop...there, it's out of the way now, you may continue as normal.

I always thought "Tug of War" was an odd choice for the 3rd single from that album, and I think I recall George Martin saying the same thing. I like the song, but it never struck me as single material. I always thought "Ballroom Dancing" or "Dress Me Up As a Robber" would have made more sense.

Our local AM station played "Hands Of Love" in moderate rotation in the summer of '73.

McCartney's gift for pop and strong pop sensibilities has been his trademark from day one.
But I think he was more capable of petfecting the sounds of the times than foreshadowing.
As we mentioned with Arrow through Me for Disco or his Beach Boys inspired Here There and Everywhere, Motor of Love came after the hits by NKOTB I'll Be Loving You Forever and Please Don't Go Girl, written by Maurice Starr for the 88 Hanging Tough album.
Get It would have been an okay single back when the Baby Boomers were still buying records and appreciated Perkins.

"You Want Her Too", Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this pretty much universally considered the best Paul/Elvis song and the best thing on Flowers in the Dirt?

Also, "Talk More Talk." The one song on Press to Play that's catchy and appealing enough to survive the production. A much better song than Press.

Great song. I think McCartney had such an embarrassment of riches as far as 45 choices during the Seventies, that songs which would have been second single choices off his albums were usually superseded by the next classy stand alone.

It's one of my favorites but I've read a few who think it's lame.

I disagree with many of the songs listed on this thread. From the first time i heard She's My Baby I thought it could be a #1 song, I still think it could be today. Also So Glad to See You Here and To You and possibly the aforementioned Dress Me Up Like A Robber.

I've always thought "You Want Her Too" was the weakest Paul/Elvis collaboration. The only reason it's interesting all is that it's sort of the evil twin to "The Girl Is Mine."

This 45 kickstarted the UK oil crisis. They're very cunning, those French.

To this day it boggles my mind that Letting Go wasn't released as a single off Venus & Mars..... to me it was the stand out track off a great album....
Ps it still sounds great today
