Pictures that would have made great album covers

They're just looking for weed.

 

I'm amazed that none of the photos from this session wound up being the picture sleeve for the "Hey Jude" single, as the photo session took place on the same day the song was recorded.

It's hard to top the dazzling-glam cover portrait for Self Destruction Blues (1982), but this would have made for a great Hanoi Rocks cover...

This photo screams for an album cover. Ol' blue eyes circa 1955...

 

And here's another favorite of mine that would have made for a definitive Elvis cover in the 50's...

 

And this would have made for a great cover...my personal favorite British Invasion band...the Zombies!

My favorite Motown figure and one of the greatest artists of the 20th century...songwriter, singer, producer extraordinaire...Smokey Robinson, 1965...

 

There was an Elvis shot in the Rolling Stone History of Rock and Roll of him being kissed by two girls. the imperious look on his face is one for the ages.

 

Yeah, the "Elvis kissing/being kissed" photos are vast. Many great ones are out there. And probably have resulted in a lifetime of proud stories and books shared by those who had the opportunity to be seen with him...

 

Now we know why the photographer told Frank exactly where to stand.

 

This mod London photo from the mid 60's would definitely stand out as a cover for a modern retro-flavored band...

It strikes me as a candidate for a 1965 British Invasion album cover. Pick the UK artist of your choice.

 

This should be the album cover for everything ever released by any artist.

 

Looks like somebody was sunbathing naked next door...

 

I've said it before, but this 1973 Patrick Lichfield shot captured Olivia at the peak of her beauty. Would've made a great album cover.

 

Either that or they're watching Allen Klein burning on a pyre.

 

As a believer that hosiery is the most alluring garment a woman can wear, this one caught my eye like a bolt of lightning!
