I think they should reconsider the title. I thought of a better one:

    Gillan
    Roger Glover
    Airey
    Morse
    Paice
    (S)

That's right folks! Run out and get the NEW Deep Purple release: GRAMPS! Available in stores now!

Just having a little fun. Don't string me up! :)

    It's been a long goodbye since 1993.

How is it, Purpendicular (1996) sounded more like a "hello" than a "goodbye?" ...or did you miss that one?

Hey... OLD GUYS: Howzabout you knock it off with the "Deep Purple quit existing in..." blah blah blah. Deep Purple is a band. They exist, no matter what your favorite lineup was - or is. Band members drop in and drop out. Paice, Gillan, Morse, and Glover have been together for over twenty years. Phooey on you.

Glad for the info. Glad for the music. Glad for the time that we've had to share. I just wish that the crabby old farts on this board were a little more appreciative of the gift of continued new rock music from our heritage artists. Nothing is forever.

Eh, of course you're right. In actuality, I've enjoyed the band in (most of) their various incarnations over the years. In truth, I haven't hated the stuff they've done with Morse. I thought Bananas was pretty good and didn't hate Now What!? but I'd also admit I never listen to the albums anymore. As I said, I was just having a little fun.

Amen! Haven't they spent more time together now than any lineup? It's such a stupid, ridiculous argument.

Ok...that is flat out terrible IMO. It sounds like a bad Foreigner imitation.
Hopefully, they can do much better than that on this new album.

Btw...that album Bananas, was rated as their worst on this little countdown.

Like I said....it's all subjective. It's just not my thing. If this truly is their last album, I would like to hear something with a little more kick to it. A lot more actually....

Their official web site is down - likely being updated. This is from the Highway Star: The first single for the new album Infinite will be released on January 20.

This is a good point. I had zero interest in a Blackmore-less Purple until a friend insisted I check this out and boy was I glad I did. They sounded SO fresh and inspired around this time period. Liked everything up to Rapture Of The Deep. As an aside, I met Roger Glover in NYC in 1998 and mentioned to him how fresh the new music sounded and he was genuinely grateful for the comments. He was also impressed I knew that "Bloodsucker" was not a new track! :)

Jon Lord performs on "Come Taste The Band" though he's not as present (or high in the mix) like other Purple albums.

Speaking of Bananas, I really liked it and consider it the second-best Morse Purple album. Great playing as is to be expected from them, and some very good melodies.

Maybe people are judging it on the cover and silly title, as opposed to the contents.
