Yes, this Mono Vinyl box is a beauty, and a good moment to start a series of Kinks polls based on the same idea as what we did with the Beatles (and solo) a few months ago, which was followed by the wonderful Beach Boys polls by @The Zodiac. By the way, if he allows me, I think I might collect the results the way he did for the BB polls (lists of 3 winners) instead of creating an imaginary "track by track" best of as I did for the Beatles polls. We'll see about that later.

So. The Kinks. The awesomest of the awesome singles bands, sure. Still, the albums might be even better, in their own kinky way. The greatest of the sixties bands, of course. Still, their seventies and eighties output are even more fascinating, in their own shambolic way.

In all honesty, they might be the best band for this kind of poll : it's so fascinating to dig deep in their catalogue, in order to find the lost little gems, which are EVERYWHERE. I mean, some of their very best songs have been leftovers from their very worst albums ! What other band in rock history have pulled off such an aberration ?Plus, the Kinks have released exactly 25 studio albums (including the mighty "The Great Lost Kinks album"), which is just perfect for the polls on this forum (they allow 25 responses)

So here we go. The Kinks polls start here. So many great songs. So many crazy ones.

    Have fun.

These are my five favourite track 1's and damn if I even begin to decide. I'll have to come back to it. It's not like you can just immediately choose from such greats. Very damn tough.

20th Century Man for me. Favourite opening song of my favourite Kinks album. It really sets the mood and themes of the album really well (same as Village Green, which would be my 2nd pick).

I voted for "Misfits", with "Do It Again" and "State of Confusion" a close second and third place but, as many of you know, I am really more of a 1977-Present guy when it comes to the Kinks/Davies brothers. I do appreciate "Victoria", "David Watts", and "TVGPS" quite a lot tho.

I just realized one that's missing from this poll: "The Road". I might've voted for that. Love that song.
