    Just looking at the songs.
I'm primarily a rock fan but I like them. 78/79 was as a tough period of my life and they helped me through.
The combination of a haunting guitar, cutting lyrics and three minute songs work for me.

Emma, Everyone's a Winner, You Sexy Thing...

They were very good! And with a wonderful lead singer!

Great, great band. A permanent fixture on top of the pops during my childhood, which i have been reliving over the past 5 years with to BBC4 repeats (1976-1981 so far.)

Did you see the recent Hot Chocolate at the BBC episode on BBC4, earlier this year I think. Not sure if its still on BBC Iplayer but worth a search, especially for a few early tracks where Errol wasnt singing.

I need to investigate their back catalogue (beyond the many hit singles/best of's,) any recommendations albumwise???

Of course as I search for the HC at the BBC i realise now that its being repeated on BBC4 tonight.

They were not really well known in the USA. You Sexy Thing, everyone remembers that one, and a lot of people will know Every 1's A Winner. I remembered Emma when I heard it for the first time in years, but I'd never realized it was the same group! Otherwise, underappreciated here.

Hot Chocolate were bigger in Europe than in the US. Everyone's a Winner and Sexy Thing got some radio play in the US though. I was stationed in Germany (US Army) in the late 70s and I remembered them as being rather well liked by German listeners.

The guitar sound on Everyone's a Winner is sort of proto-new wave and is awesome.

Motorhead are one of many, many bands I love, a list that also includes Hot Chocolate. Was very sad to hear of Errol's passing last year. A great talent and a great band.

I still have that Hot Chocolate at the BBC show stored on my Skyplus box and watch it every so often. Brother Louie is ace, Emma too. I love that 70's synth sound on their late 70's hits.

I like it when I hear them but I only have a greatest hits in my collection. And their Apple Records debut single, the cover of Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance". It's on "Come and Get It: The Best of Apple Records".

They seemed to release a new single every couple of weeks in the 70s and 80s. I didn't like a lot of them, but 'Every 1's A Winner' is a total classic and should have been a much bigger hit.

Also like 'Emma', 'So You Win Again' 'You Sexy Thing' and 'I'll Put You Together Again'.

I have only a comp of theirs. But, yeah, I'd say I'm a pretty big fan. I particularly love "Brother Louie," "You Sexy Thing" and "Every 1's a Winner."

And btw, the Jacksons ripped Hot Chocolate's "You Could Have Been a Lady" on "Blame It On the Boogie."

I've never heard a proper Hot Chocolate LP, but they had a superb run of singles. Next time I see a cheap vinyl copy I'll give Cicero Park a listen. I can see that one being good.
