I just got my new Altec vintage tuner in today, I found it on eBay, the guy said it had been checked out and a little work performed on it. I have had it playing thru my fisher tube amp and it sounds great. I ran it up the fm scale and it pulled in 25 stations, now I do not know how far away some are but that's quite a few for around here.
I already am ,it's just so cool to have a tuner thats 57 years old that plays so well. I saw an ad for it in and old stereo magazine, that thing was $199.95 new and the case was extra. I paid $300.00 for it and it was worth every Penney. You know for James Brown to have be such a giant around the world, here people were kind of oblivious to it, because he would just be out and about, pumping his own gas.
I will, it might be a while ,I'm not very good at getting pictures on here and the car just broke down so I will be a little pre occupied for a while. Thanks for the interest , they do have a great look to them. I bought another without the case and a couple of issues, nothing major and it has a great glass also. They said it does work, probably needs a cleaning and adjustment, but working is always good. Only 59.00 dollars and shipping so I feel good about that, you never know when you may need parts.
That is a particularly beautiful tuner. The faceplate is classsic. If you have good stations within its range a nice tuner is a source of joy. I don't get the same feeling from streaming music that I get from listening to a talented DJ spin tunes, tell tales, and take me on a little journey.
