Voted early because of Revolver. I there had been a mid choice I would have chose that.

65-66......my favorite period. They're getting edgier and more experimental but still retain much of the earlier visual style.

How does someone make this choice? Just consider no early Beatles, No "Ticket to Ride", No "Day Tripper", No "If I needed Someone". Then imagine nothing after Rubber Soul. WoW!

My vote was for late Beatles. After some careful thought, the early Beatles were a sensation. The late Beatles became epic! On a happier note we have both, and how could a late Beatles exist if not for those happy, wonderful moptops who rescued America from the loss of JFK?

I think the early Beatles were scrappier and hungrier and therefore would win in a fight with the older Beatles, who had done drugs and stopped moving their equipment after not touring anymore.

I wish Capitol had made an album called 'The Later Beatles.'

I chose the early Beatles. I love the later Beatles, but the early stuff sounds like a friggin' band while the later stuff gets a little self indulgent and individual. I'm one that prefers Please Please Me over the White Album.

Heck yes. Early John could easily take peace/love/drug John. I do think later Ringo would win over early Ringo however. He'd have Peter Sellers as his manager.

Without being too flippant, its like choosing between your children!

However as its not , although it was a very difficult choice and I believe Abbey Road to be the best Beatles album, I went for the Red timeframe which encompasses so many great singles plus Rubber Soul, A Hard Days Night and Revolver

I don't think anyone is putting down early Beatles in any way, there was two choices and people chose one.

Does Ringo have time to plan?

(Only comic book nerds will get this joke)

Anyway, I picked "late". I've never been a HUGE fan of their early years, so Rubber Soul and Revolver would be the only REALLY painful losses for me.

I really like their early stuff, but I LOVE their middle and late years.

Yes, but I think mid-period "Fat Elvis" John could take early or late John. A bit slower but more power in the punch.

That's how it is for me as well, BUT when it comes to listening, I do tend to listen to the later albums than the early ones. My wife's the opposite; she loves With The Beatles and Please Please Me but calls the later albums (Pepper onward) "The weird s--t"

I have always preferred their first half . . . the early "Red Years."

Tough call. 1970 is really a moot year to be included, as The Beatles never actually recorded anything after 1969.

Early largely because 67 is included in late and their music released that year is my least favorite of their stuff - as it is the stuff where you hear the least of them playing as a band.

Exactly. That is how I divide their career too. I have always said the Beatles is like three different bands. That's why it's so hard for me to vote, because I like the middle period, the years of growth and experimentation.

  24. Late Beatles.

Even though I understand perfectly the other side. As a tight group in their early days there was certainly something exciting and unique about their sound, but that was collectively. I personally prefer that three songwriters emerged from this earlier group unit, each one with much more strength and originality, in their late years.
